We report the first case of Dermatophilus congolensis infection of the human esophagus. We demonstrate initial endoscopic diagnosis, progression and then spontaneous resolution of D. congolensis infection, once the patient's occupational exposure had ceased.
OBJECTIVE The occupational risk for Legionella infection among dental healthcare workers (DHCWs) is conjectured because of the risk of routine inhalation of potentially contaminated aerosols produced by the dental instruments. Nevertheless, occupational epidemiology studies are contrasting. This meta-analysis assessed the level of scientific evidence regarding the relative occupational risk for...

BACKGROUND Healthcare workers (HCWs) are at risk of acquiring human immuno-deficiency virus (HIV) and other infections via exposure to infectious patients' blood and body fluids. The main objective of this study was to estimate the risk of HIV transmission and examine the practices for preventing occupational exposures among HCWs at Tumbi and Dodoma Hospitals in Tanzania. METHODS This study w...
BACKGROUND Exposure to hepatitis B virus (HBV) remains a serious risk to healthcare workers (HCWs) in endemic developing countries owing to the strong prevalence of HBV in the general and hospital populations, and to the high rate of occupational blood exposure. Routine HBV vaccination programs targeted to high-risk groups and especially to HCWs are generally considered as a key element of prev...
The association of aetiological agents incriminated for bladder cancer are well recognised. They are divided into two groups, occupational and non-occupational. The commonest occupational agents are 2-naphthylamine, benzidine, aminobiphenyl, dichlorobenzidine, orthodianisidine and orthotolidine. Recognised non-occupational agents include tobacco, recurrent chronic bladder infection/infestation,...
