Abstract In this study, cinnamon and paprika oleoresins were encapsulated by two technologies, respectively, spray chilling particles from gas saturated solutions. Both technologies used palm oil as wall materials. The physical characteristics of the microparticles compared well release behavior in high- low-fat simulated food media. had an average diameter 143.7 ± 1.5 µm, spherical shape, smoo...

BACKGROUND Tree-killing bark beetles (Coleoptera, Scolytinae) are among the most economically and ecologically important forest pests in the northern hemisphere. Induction of terpenoid-based oleoresin has long been considered important in conifer defense against bark beetles, but it has been difficult to demonstrate a direct correlation between terpene levels and resistance to bark beetle colon...

Background Low-cost methods to mitigate the increasing levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and their implications on global climate change have received considerable attention in the last years [1,2]. Afforestation is an important alternative to reduce the rise in atmospheric CO2 concentration due to the system’s ability to fix carbon in forest biomass and soil [3]. Several studies have ...

Oleoresin samples collected from Pinus sylvestris L. trees from Acıpayam, Çal and Çamlıbel, three different locations in Denizli-Turkey. The constituents of the turpentine oil, obtained by hydrodistillation of oleoresin of Pinus sylvestris L., were identified by GC-MS. Fifty four constituents were detected from the turpentine oil, which constituted about between 96.2% and 98.2% of the total amo...

Leaf and oleoresin fractions of both alcoholic and petroleum ether extracts of Araucaria bidwillii exhibited significant prolongation of pentobarbitones sleeping time at a dose of 300 and 100 mg/kg body weight respectively in mice. This effect is more pronounced for oleoresin than the leaf extracts. Further, the two extracts seem to possess analgesic effect comparable to aspirin by writing meth...

Toxicodendron dermatitis results from a reaction to an oil soluble oleoresin that is present in many parts of the poison ivy and poison oak plants. Prophylactic measures include avoidance, protective clothing, barrier creams and hyposensitization. Treatments include washing the area immediately with a solvent suitable for lipids and the use of anti-inflammatory agents, especially corticosteroids.
