Particle production in Au−Au, Cu−Cu, d−Au and p−p collisions at 200 GeV c.m. energy are analyzed in the wounded quark-diquark model. Existing data are well reproduced. Emission functions of wounded and unwounded constituents are determined. Implications for the collective evolution of the system are discussed.

Understanding conduction in Cu(2)O is vital to the optimization of Cu-based p-type transparent conducting oxides. Using a screened hybrid-density-functional approach we have investigated the formation of p-type defects in Cu(2)O giving rise to single-particle levels that are deep in the band gap, consistent with experimentally observed activated, polaronic conduction. Our calculated transition ...

(Received: February 10, 2012; Accepted: April 30, 2012) Abstract: The present study deals with the application of Watermelon Shell, an agricultural waste, for the adsorptive removal of Cu(II) from its aqueous solutions. This paper incorporates the effects of time, dose, temperature, concentration, particle size, agitation speed and pH. Analytical techniques have been employed to find pore prope...

In the present study, zinc oxide nanoparticles were synthesized by simultaneous doping of Zn0.98Cu0.02O with Ca2+, Mg2+, and Co2+ ions using the microemulsion method. The phase, crystallization, and particle size of samples were identified by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. The formation of the desired phase was confirmed by, X-ray diffraction. Also, the infrared spectrum (Far-FTIR) was confi...

the cu doped nio (nio:cu) nanoparticles were synthesized by co-precipitation method using nicl2.6h2o, cucl2.2h2o for ni and cu sources, respectively. sodium hydroxide has been used as a precipitator agent. effect of cu doping agent on the structural and optical properties of nanostructures were characterized by xrd, sem, afm, spectrophotometry, ftir and vsm techniques. xrd revealed that nio:cu ...

We fabricated Au-Cu₂O core-shell octahedra, cuboctahedra, and nanocubes having sizes of 90-220 nm using 50 nm octahedral cores. The smaller particle sizes minimize the strong light scattering features from the Cu₂O shells and enable the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) absorption band of the gold cores to be clearly identified. Beyond a lower shell thickness limit, the SPR band positions of the ...

It has been reported that the phase transitions found in the quasi-one-dimensional sulfide KCu(7-x)S4 are most likely due to vacancy ordering involving Cu+-ion diffusion along the Cu(2)-Cu(2) zigzag chains. Our previous studies with both a self-consistent method and Monte Carlo simulations confirmed that phase transitions indeed exist in a one-dimensional (1D) lattice gas system in which vacanc...

We were successful in growing a dense Cu film on Al2O3 substrates at room temperature using an aerosol deposition (AD) method. The characteristics of Cu films were investigated through electrical resistivity and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The resistivity of Cu films was low (9.2-12.5 μΩ cm), but it was five to seven times higher than that of bulk copper. The deterioration of the re...

Particle size distribution and trace element patterns were studied in a full-scale anaerobic digestion plant treating pig slurry. Mass balance was established for major (N, P, K, Ca, Fe, Mg and S) and minor (Al, Cu, Mn and Zn) elements. Most of the elements were conserved through the process but part of the P, Ca, Mg and Mn was deposited as crystals lining the digester. In the dry matter of the...
