The new bis(phosphaalkenyl) germanium(II) compound (NHC)Ge(CCl=PMes*)(2) reacts with L(2)M(CO)(4) (M = Mo, W) to give bidentate complexes with an unexpected coordinating behaviour involving the Ge(II) centre and one phosphorus atom, and with AuI or Me(2)SAuCl to afford the monodentate complexes coordinated at the germanium(II) atom.

The reaction of triarylantimony diacetates [Ar3Sb(OAc)2] with dialkyl H-phosphites [H-PO(OR)2] in the presence of a Pd(PPh3)4 (5 mol%) catalyst led to the formation of arylphosphonates in moderate to excellent yield under base-free conditions. This reaction is the first example of carbon-phosphorus bond formation by using an organoantimony compound as a pseudo-halide.

A hitherto unprecedented electronic situation has been observed for a substituted, pyridyl-functionalized phosphinine. In contrast to previous studies, this compound shows considerable π-donor properties as the result of the rather strong +M effect of the CH3S-substituent, changing the electronic properties of this low-coordinate and aromatic phosphorus heterocycle substantially.
