We report for the first time a novel erythrocyte-like graphene microsphere (ELGMs) which can be produced with high quality and mass production capability via electrospray assisted self-assembly. Through simple electrospray treatment of GO suspension into coagulation bath followed by chemical reduction, large quantity of ELGMs with uniform morphology and size can be obtained with production rate...

Graphene oxide hydrogel is used as a reactive template to prepare nanoporous materials with a 3D microstructure. The as-prepared porous MnO2 shows a capacitance retention of ~70.6% at a current density as high as 15 A g(-1), resulting from the 3D interconnected ion transport channel replicated from the graphene oxide hydrogel.

A facile production of highly porous graphene foam by using flame treatment of graphene oxide (GO) is proposed. Highly porous architectures with randomly distributed micro-crack and micro-slit were produced due to the high temperature induced ruinous reduction and rapid expansion of GO. Synchronously, abundant oxygen-containing groups (OCGs) on GO sheets could be effectively removed after flame...

Reduced porous graphene oxide as a metal free catalyst was selected for the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethylbenzene to styrene. It showed the best catalytic performance compared with other carbon materials (routinely reduced graphene oxide, graphite powder and oxidized carbon nanotubes) and commercial iron oxide.

We report for the first time an experimental investigation of gas storage in porous graphene with nanomeshes. High capacity methane storage (236 v(STP)/v) and a high selectivity to carbon dioxide adsorption were obtained in the nanomesh graphene with a high specific surface area (SSA) and a SSA-lossless tightly stacking manner.

A well-designed nanostructure of transition metal oxides has been regarded as a key to solve their problems of large volume changes during lithium insertion-desertion processes which are associated with pulverization of the electrodes and rapid capacity decay. Here we report an effective approach for the fabrication of porous iron oxide ribbons by controlling the nucleation and growth of iron p...

Ultrafine Pt nanoparticles supported on a robust 3D N-doped porous graphene (PtNP/R-3DNG) composite are fabricated. The composite exhibits a considerable enhancement of activity and stability toward the methanol electrooxidation reaction. The robust 3D porous structure and abundant nitrogen atoms are believed to be responsible for the enhanced performance.

Dyes wastewater produced during leather processing caused serious environmental pollution. Anionic dyes are always vital crisis in waste treatment. Removal of anionic dyes from tannery wastewater before their discharge into the environment is important for health and environment safety. The use of low-priced and biodegradable adsorbents could be a good method to minimize the environmental impac...

Novel carbon materials, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and porous graphene (PG), were exploited and used as conductive additives to improve the rate performance of LiMn2O4 cathode for the rechargeable aqueous Zn/LiMn2O4 battery, namely the rechargeable hybrid aqueous battery (ReHAB). Thanks to the long-range conductivity and stable conductive network provided by CNTs, the rate and cycling performances...

We demonstrate computationally that two-dimensional polyphenylene is a typical semiconductor with a wide band gap, and the porous structure endows polyphenylene remarkably high selectivity for H(2) permeability relative to CO(2), CO and CH(4). This experimentally available porous graphene is expected to find applications in a hydrogen energy society.
