Intervention Surgeons (n=2) were allocated to music (20 patients) or no music (20 patients). Patients in the music group were given stereo headphones, a cassette player, and a choice of 22 types of music (including soft hits, classical guitar, chamber music, and folk music); patients listened to their selected music during the preoperative, surgical, and postoperative periods. All patients rece...
We present Push!Music, a mobile music player with wireless peer-to-peer sharing possibilities, and report on some preliminary results from a two-week user study. Our findings show the potential of Push!Music as a new exciting way of sharing music, but do also reveal issues related to privacy.
Biofuel cells that generate electricity from renewable fuels, such as carbohydrates, must be reusable through repeated refuelling, should these devices be used in consumer electronics. We demonstrate the stable generation of electricity from a glucose-powered mediated biofuel cell through multiple refuelling cycles. This refuelability is achieved by immobilizing nicotinamide adenine dinucleotid...
We developed a rhythmic instruments ensemble simulator generating animation using game controllers. The motion of a player is transformed into musical expression data of MIDI to generate sounds, and MIDI data are transformed into animation control parameters to generate movies. These animations and music are shown as the reflection of player performance. Multiple players can perform a musical e...
The XPod system, presented in this paper, aims to integrate awareness of human activity and musical preferences to produce an adaptive system that plays the contextually correct music. The XPod project introduces a “smart” music player that learns its user’s preferences and activity, and tailors its music selections accordingly. We are using a BodyMedia device that has been shown to accurately ...
There are often situations in which a group of people gather and listen to the same songs. However, majority of existing studies related to music information retrieval (MIR) have focused on personalization for individual users, and there have been only a few studies related to MIR intended for a group of people. Here, we present an Android music player with a music selection function for people...

This paper introduces MIDI-Connect4, a program that composes music from the unfolding of a board game called Connect4. The system uses evolutionary computation to evolve from scratch a neural network that plays the Connect4 game. Music is produced when a user plays the game against the system. The system generates music by associating the moves of each player with musical forms.
English. In this work, we present an experiment in the modeling of a diachronic termino-ontological resource named CLAVIUS through both the N-ary relations model and the 4D-fluents approach. Some of the salient differences of these two models are discussed. The overall objective of this research is to illustrate the main advantages and disadvantages in the adoption of a given model to build dia...
