KAYMAK, H. C., I. GUVENC and A. GUROL, 2010. Elemental analysis of different radish (Raphanus sativus L.) Cultivars by using wavelength-dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (WDXRF). Bulg. J. Agric. Sci., 16: 769-774 The aim of this work is to study the applicability of a quantitative WDXRF (Wavelength-Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence) method, for determination of minerals in radish specimens...

The transition of vegetative growth to bolting and flowering is an important process in the life cycle of plants, which is determined by numerous genes forming an intricate network of bolting and flowering. However, no comprehensive identification and profiling of bolting and flowering-related genes have been carried out in radish. In this study, RNA-Seq technology was applied to analyze the di...

A basic 9-kD protein was purified from seeds of radish (Raphanus sativus L.). The 43 amino-terminal amino acids show extensive sequence identity with nonspecific lipid transfer proteins from other plant species. The radish seed nonspecific lipid transfer protein-like protein inhibits the growth of several fungi in vitro.

objective: very recent studies have reported positive effects of dietary nitrate on the oxygen consumption during exercise. this research aimed to study the effect of moderate dose of high-nitrate vegetables, watercress (nasturtium officinale) and red radish (raphanus sativus) compared with a control group on the incremental treadmill exercise test following a standard bruce protocol controlled...

The molecular aspects of phytochemical interactions between plants, especially the process of phytochemical translocation by the target plant, remain challenging for those studying allelopathy. 2-Benzoxazolinone (BOA) is a natural chemical produced by rye (Secale cereale) and is known to have phytotoxic effects on weed seeds and seedlings. The translocation of BOA into target plants has been po...

Background: Radish (Raphanus sativus L.) is one of the most popular root crops during rabi season and it well praised for its high nutritional therapeutic value. The current study on “impact integrated nutrient management yield quality characteristics radish” was carried out to determine interacting effects between organic manures inorganic fertilizers effective strategies advised radish. Metho...

Coastal plants with simple linear distribution ranges along coastlines provide a suitable system for improving our understanding of patterns of intra-specific distributional history and genetic variation. Due to the combination of high seed longevity and high dispersibility of seeds via seawater, we hypothesized that wild radish would poorly represent phylogeographic structure at the local scal...

Radish (Raphanus sativus L.) is a cruciferous vegetable, and its leaves have antioxidant and anticancer properties. This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of ethyl acetate extracts from radish leaves on hypertension in 11-week-old spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRs). The SHRs were randomly divided into 3 groups of 6 rats each on the basis of initial systolic blood pressure (SBP) an...

In order to investigate the accumulation and bio-absorption of lead and cadmium in radish and cress, the present study has been conducted in a completely randomized design in three replicates in a hydroponic growing medium. The first factor includes the plant type at two levels (radish and cress), and the second factor is consisted of lead (Pb) (first experiment) at two levels (50 and 100 mg/L)...

Cruciferous plants viz. cabbage, cauliflower, turnip, radish, mustard etc. that contain goitrogenic/antithyroid substances, constitute a portion of regular human diet. The effect of chronic feeding of fresh and cooked radish, R. sativus under varying state of iodine intake on morphological and functional status of thyroid in albino rats was evaluated by thyroid gland morphology and histology, t...
