A signal-subspace method is derived for the localization and imaging of unknown scatterers using intensity-only wave field data (lacking field phase information). The method is an extension of the time-reversal multiple-signal-classification imaging approach to intensity-only data. Of importance, the derived methodology works within exact scattering theory including multiple scattering.

Aiming at the detail rendering in volume data, a new volume illumination model, called Composed Scattering Model (CSM), is presented. In order to enhance different details in volume data, scattering intensity is decomposed into volume scattering intensity and surface scattering intensity with different weight functions. According to the Gauss probability distribution of gray and gradient of dat...

We have investigated the effects of resonant scattering of emission lines on the image morphology and intensity from coronal loop structures. It has previously been shown that line of sight effects in optically thin line emission can yield loop images that appear uniformly bright at one viewing angle, but show “looptop sources” at other viewing angles. For optically thick loops where multiple r...

The rcnccted beam intensity as a lunctlon of dcclron energy ( lIE curve) is studied for an ideal (001) Ni surface by low energy electron diffraction (LEED). Double layer method, rcnormalized forward scattering (RFS) and quasi-dynamic method arc used for lIE curves calculation. The role of structural and nonstructural parameters of Ni on lIE curves is examined. The crfect or the optical p...

We study the inelastic excitations of Xe for electrons with relatively high energies (500 or 750 eV) scattered over large angles, both experimentally and theoretically. In particular, we focus on the shape and intensity of the spectra of inelastically scattered electrons at the sharp dip in the elastic cross section near 135◦ at 750 eV. Under these conditions, the first Born approximation predi...

The microscopic network structure of surfactant-stabilized single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) in water was investigated as a function of SWNT concentration in the semidilute (overlapping) regime using small-angle neutron scattering (SANS). Most of the samples exhibit rigid rod behavior (i.e., Q(-1) intensity variation) at large scattering wavevector, Q, and a crossover to network behavior (i....

2014 Dynamic light scattering as a probe of fluctuations for systems undergoing steady linear shear is examined. Several approximations are made to calculate the intensity correlation function for a dense system of independent particles or fluctuations at low rates of shear. In this limit the intensity correlation function is similar in structure to the equilibrium intensity correlation functio...

A recent light scattering cuvette has been successful in differentiating the type of microemboli in flowing whole blood. However, since the technique was designed assuming the microemboli are concentrated near the center of the scattering medium, it is necessary to investigate the effect of off-center locations on discrimination. The scattering intensities from 5 off-center locations were inves...

Citrate-capped gold nanoparticles with different colours and diameters were prepared by the reduction of HAuCl4 using sodium citrate. With increasing the size of gold particles, the plasmon absorption peaks were shifted to longer wavelength and the intensity of resonance light scattering was enhanced. The resonance light scattering of gold nanoparticles in the range of 500–600nmwas quenched by ...

SUePDF is a graphical user interface program written in MATLAB to achieve quantitative pair distribution functions (PDFs) from electron diffraction data. The program facilitates structural studies of amorphous materials and small nanoparticles using electron diffraction data from transmission electron microscopes. It is based on the physics of electron scattering as well as the total scattering...
