This paper presents a method to identify segment boundaries in music. The method is based on a hierarchical model; first a features is measured from the audio, then a measure of rhythm is calculated from the feature (the rhythmogram), the diagonal of a self-similarity matrix is calculated from the rhythmogram, and finally the segment boundaries are found on a smoothed novelty measure, calculate...
We introduce a method for the automatic extraction of musical structures in popular music. The proposed algorithm uses non-negative matrix factorization to segment regions of acoustically similar frames in a self-similarity matrix of the audio data. We show that over the dimensions of the NMF decomposition, structural parts can easily be modeled. Based on that observation, we introduce a cluste...
Trailing vortices have been repeatedly shown to exhibit a remarkably robust selfsimilarity independent of the Reynolds number and upstream boundary conditions. The collapse of the inner-scaled circulation profiles of a trailing vortex has even been previously demonstrated for the cases of highly unsteady and turbulent vortex systems, as well as for vortices which were incompletely developed. A ...
The self-similarity of complex has extensive practical background in real world. It is similar to the phenomena of social relationships: “things of one kind come together, birds of a feather flock together”. Hence, we proposed the self-similarity network evolving model based on attributes similarity between the nodes. In network each node has the attribute value, by this computing similarity be...
In music structure analysis the two principles of repetition and homogeneity are fundamental for partitioning a given audio recording into musically meaningful structural elements. When converting the audio recording into a suitable self-similarity matrix (SSM), repetitions typically lead to path structures, whereas homogeneous regions yield block structures. In previous research, handling both...
The goal of domain adaptation is to solve the problem of di↵erent joint distribution of observation and labels in the training and testing data sets. This problem happens in many practical situations such as when a malware detector is trained from labeled datasets at certain time point but later evolves to evade detection. We solve the problem by introducing a new representation which ensures t...
This study set out to investigate in which type of media individuals are more likely to tell self-serving and other-oriented lies, and whether this varied according to the recipient of the lie. One hundred and fifty participants rated on a likert-point scale how likely they would tell a lie. Participants were more likely to tell self-serving lies to people not well-known to them. They were more...
Why does it strike us as absurd to believe that it is raining and that one doesn’t believe that it is raining? Some argue that it strikes us as absurd because belief is normative. The beliefs that it is raining and that one doesn’t believe that it is are, it is suggested, self-falsifying. But, so it is argued, it is essential to belief that beliefs ought not, among other things, be self-falsify...
We consider a model of self-avoiding walks on the lattice Zd with different weights for steps in each of the 2d lattice directions. We find that the directiondependent mass for the two-point function of this model has three phases: mass positive in all directions; mass identically −∞; and masses of different signs in different directions. The final possibility can only occur if the weights are ...
We have produced extended series for prudent self-avoiding walks on the square lattice. These are subsets of self-avoiding walks. We conjecture the exact growth constant and critical exponent for the walks, and show that the (anisotropic) generating function is almost certainly not differentiably-finite.
