Due to energy crises in the future, much effort is being directed towards alternate sources. Solar energy is accepted as a novel substitute for conventional sources of energy. Out of the long list of various types of solar cells available on the market, solid state photoelectrochemical solar cells (SSPECs) and dye sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) are proposed as an alternative to costly crystalli...

The co-sensitization of organic silyl-anchor dyes in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) using carbazole and coumarin dyes with organosilicon tethers for binding to titanium dioxide has been examined. We have succeeded in fabricating a high-performance DSSC with a light-to-electric energy conversion efficiency of 12.8% under one sun simulated solar irradiation.

Efficiency of dye-sensitized solar cells [DSSCs] was enhanced by combining the use of TiO2 nanotubes [TNTs] and nanoparticles. TNTs were fabricated by a sol-gel method, and TiO2 powders were produced through an alkali hydrothermal transformation. DSSCs were constructed using TNTs and TiO2 nanoparticles at various weight percentages. TNTs and TiO2 nanoparticles were coated onto FTO glass by the ...

Graphitic thin films embedded with highly dispersed titanium dioxide (TiO(2)) nanoparticles were incorporated for the first time into the conventional dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs), resulting in a remarkably improved cell efficiency due to its superior electron conductivity. Massively ordered arrays of TiO(2) dots embedded in carbon matrix were fabricated via UV-stabilization of polystyren...

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have aroused intense interest owing to their easy fabrication, low cost, simple preparation procedures and high energy conversion efficiency. Considering the fact that leakage and volatilization of liquid electrolytes hinder their practical applications in the case of DSSCs, polymer electrolytes with high ionic conductivity, excellent thermal and long-term sta...

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) are categorized as some of inexpensive thin-film solar cells. The basis and foundation of these cells is a semiconductor that consists of an electrolyte and a light-sensitive anode. Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is a semiconductor that plays the role of anode and is the main constituent of these cells. In this paper, we have addressed the functionality and performan...

Abstract Ensuring high power conversion efficiency, partially or completely replacing Pt electrodes with inexpensive materials is one of the important development directions dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). In this work, we have developed a three-component (MWCNTs, carbon black and graphite) (tri-carbon) electrode material for DSSC devices combined advantages electron transfer kinetics MWCNT...

The use of traditional Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) is limited due to the toxic and non-environmentally safe solvents. In this review, water proposed as a viable alternative developing green chemistry sustainable materials for DSSCs. However, water-based DSSCs (WBDSSCs) require improvement in their photovoltaic parameters. detachment dye molecules from semiconductor poor solubility iodine...

Fresh and dried leaves of Lawsonia inermis (Henna) were used in extracting dyes with variety solvents such as ethanol, acetone distilled water. To our knowledge, has been for the first time solvent to extract henna dye. These extracted sensitizers Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSCs). A sum six DSSCs fabricated. Spectroscopic studies (UV–Visible FTIR) recorded all photo-anodes prepared. J–V Chara...

We discovered a method of applying a forward pulsed bias to recover the degraded quasi-solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Up to 30.7% of the power conversion efficiency (η) of a degraded poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) based DSSC was recovered by a double-pulse. The recovered η remained higher than that before the double-pulse treatment for at least 28 days. It is deduced that the...
