A new megastigmane glycoside, called pipeloside A, and a new aromadendrane type sesquiterpenoid, pipelol A, were isolated from the MeOH extract of the aerial part of Piper elongatum VAHL. along with a known megastigmane glycoside, byzantionoside B. The structures of these compounds were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic data and chemical evidence.

A new antimicrobial and cytotoxic sesquiterpenoid, lentinellic acid, has been isolated from submerged cultures of Lentinellus ursinus and L. omphalodes. The structure of the antibiotic was elucidated by spectroscopic methods and a single crystal X-ray analysis. 1 may be formed biogenetically by condensation of a protoilludane aldehyde 4 with a malonate unit.

The title compound, C15H22O3·H2O, is a natural producr isolated from Chloranthus japonicus, which is a eudesmane sesquiterpenoid. The two trans-fused six-membered rings have chair confomations. In the crystal, O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the components into corrugated layers parallel to the bc plane. There are C-H⋯O inter-actions present within and between the layers.
