A comprehensive study was performed of various types aluminum-containing raw materials and their effect on glass formation during smelting borosilicate glasses for type-E fiber. It is shown that use non-metallurgical alumina, as compared with metallurgical disthene-sillimanite concentrate, kaolin, a savings energy resources processes from 2.64 to 16.30% obtains.

ABSTRACT This paper presents and discusses the results of phase diagram (Perple_X) diffusion modelling (CZGM, or Compositional Zoning its Modification by diffusion) to constrain P–T path metamorphism. The approach is based on best fits between zoning profile in measured garnet that obtained intersections isopleths calculated using whole rock bulk composition. model was applied garnets natural r...

The study area is a part of so-called Sanandaj-Sirjan zone or Zagros imbricate zone of the Zagros Orogen, Iran. The Hamedan region comprises a metamorphic sequence of low- to high-grade regional and contact metamorphic rocks intruded by mafic, intermediate and felsic plutonic bodies. The sequence comprises pelitic, psammitic, mafic, calc-pelitic and calc-silicate rocks.  Pelitic rocks are the m...

Two large-scale north-dipping, low-angle normal faults cut the Everest massif at the top of the High Himalayan slab in Nepal. The upper fault the Qomolangma Detachment, follows the north slope of Everest from above the ‘Yellow Band’ at c. 8500 m on the Southwest Face down to the Rongbuk glacier. On the south side of Everest this fault places unmetamorphosed Ordovician mudstones and limestones a...

General lattice vibrational properties of minerals, particularly those properties which strongly influence the thermodynamic behavior, are discussed in this paper (the second of a series relating thermodynamic and lattice vibrational properties of minerals). Infrared (IR), Raman (R), and inelastic neutron scattering (INS) data are summarized, if known, for the following minerals: halite (INS), ...

The quartz-aluminosilicate veins in the Hamadan region consist of quartz with one, two or three polymorphs of aluminum silicate )andalusite, kyanite and sillimanite(. In some veins other accessory minerals (i.e. garnet, chlorite, muscovite, staurolite, biotite and plagioclase) are present. The petrogenesis of these veins and their country rocks have been previously described; this paper studies...

The Aegean Sea area is thought to be an actively extending back-arc region, north of the present day Hellenic volcanic arc and north-dipping subduction zone in Eastern Mediterranean. shows extensive normal faulting, ductile ‘extensional’ shear zones extensional S-C fabrics throughout islands that have previously been related regional extension associated with slab rollback on Subduction Zone. I...

The Muteh-Golpayegan metamorphic complex consist of different metamorphic rocks including pelitic, semi-pelitic, carbonate, quartz-feldspathic and basic metamorphosed rocks. The metapelitic rocks include chlorite schist, biotite schist, garnet schist, staurolite schist, kyanite schist, sillimanite schist and andalusite schist. The semi-pelitic rocks contain higher amounts of quartz and lower am...
