The positive semidefiniteness of Laplacian matrices is a critical guarantee the consensus unsigned multi-agent networks, which not valid for signed matrices. In this paper, we first analyze stability networks by introducing novel graph-theoretic concept called negative cut set , indicates that ...

Closed-loop stabilization with guaranteed stability margin using Proportional+Integral+Derivative (PID) controllers is investigated for a class of linear multi-input multioutput plants. A sufficient condition for existence of such PID-controllers is derived. A systematic synthesis procedure to obtain such PID-controllers is presented with numerical examples. Keywords– Simultaneous stabilization...

We study the local exponential stabilization, near a given steady-state flow, of solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations in a bounded domain. The control is performed through a Dirichlet boundary condition. We apply a linear feedback controller, provided by a well-posed infinite dimensional Riccati equation. We give a characterization of the domain of the closed-loop operator which is obtained...

We propose an algorithmic approach to stabilization of Lagrangian systems. The first step involves making admissible modifications to the Lagrangian for the uncontrolled system, thereby constructing what we call the controlled Lagrangian. The Euler-Lagrange equations derived from the controlled Lagrangian describe the closed-loop system where new terms are identified with control forces. Since ...

In this paper, we discuss stabilization problem for a class of switched nonlinear systems whose subsystem with trigonal structure. A backstepping switching control design is given. Based on backsteppping approach, stabilizer and a switching law are designed for such systems. The stabilization of the resulting closed-loop systems is proved via common Lyapunov function method.

In this paper we address the H∞ control analysis, the output feedback stabilization, and the output feedback H∞ control synthesis problems for state-space symmetric systems. Using a particular solution of the Bounded Real Lemma for an open-loop symmetric system we obtain an explicit expression to compute the H∞ norm of the system. For the output feedback stabilization problem we obtain an expli...

A state feedback with finitely many quantization levels yields only the so called practical stabilization, namely the convergence of any initial state belonging to a bigger bounded region into another smaller target region of the state space. The ratio between the measure of the starting region and the target region is called contraction of the closed loop system. In the analysis of the perform...

We develop a method for the stabilization of mechanical systems with symmetry based on the technique of controlled Lagrangians. The procedure involves making structured modifications to the Lagrangian for the uncontrolled system, thereby constructing the controlled Lagrangian. The Euler–Lagrange equations derived from the controlled Lagrangian describe the closed-loop system, where new terms in...

In a companion paper (Part I), we investigated stability of induction motor drives, with resonant input filters. By using a linearized feedback model of the drive, it was shown how stability specifications could be transformed into constraints on the input admittance of the voltage source inverter. The stabilization problem then becomes a standard feedback control loop-shaping problem, where th...

During the last decade stabilization and other control design problems for linear systems subject to constraints, especially those with actuator saturation, have received much attention. Whenever the magnitude of the control input is bounded, internal stabilization in either global or semiglobal sense is possible if and only if the open-loop system is asymptotically null controllable with bound...
