A high-power low-distortion static var compensator based on a synchronous link converter has been proposed, where the harmonics are eliminated by incorporating a low-power insulated-gate-bipolar-transistor-based controlled current auxiliary converter in conjunction with a high-power gate-turn-off-thyristor-based converter. In this paper, a new load compensator based on this topology is proposed...

This paper studies fault-tolerant operation of multipole single-phase switched reluctance generators (SRG’s), in particular, an 8/8-pole switched reluctance machine. The multipole single-phase SRG system is advantageous for reduced cost and higher efficiency compared to polyphase equivalents. However, using the classical phase-leg topology, a phase fault may prevent generating operation complet...

The comparator is a combinational logic circuit that plays an important role in the design of analog to digital converter. One of its most important properties is its input referred offset. When mismatches are present in a dynamic comparator, due to internal positive feedback and transient response, it is always challenging to analytically predict the input-referred random offset voltages since...

In this paper, a simple control method is presented for a single-stage single-switch isolated power-factor-correction (PFC) regulator that can simultaneously achieve unity power factor and fast output voltage regulation while keeping the voltage stress of the storage capacitor low. The converter topology comprises essentially a cascade combination of a discontinuous-mode boost converter and a c...

The first monolithically integrated widely tunable wavelength converter, consisting of a Sampled-Grating Distributed-Bragg-Reflector laser and a semiconductor optical amplifier-based Mach-Zehnder interferometer, is reported. Static extinction ratios better than 19dB and 13 dB using electrical and optical control, respectively, were measured over a 22nm laser wavelength range.

This paper presents a system named ADC TEST that estimates the static and dynamic parameters of an analog-to-digital converter according to the definitions given in IEEE Standard 1241. One shows the available output graphical pages with theirs information and facilities in a practical testing application.

Generally uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is used to maintain a stable electric power supply to critical loads with high quality power protecting them against unexpected power failure. For example, medical facilities and data-storage computer systems require fast response, compensation and immediate availability of electrical power. Considerably affect these characteristics is energy storage...

High boost DC/DC voltage conversion is always indispensable in a power electronic interface of certain battery-powered electrical equipment. However, a conventional boost converter works for a wide duty cycle for such high voltage gain, which increases power consumption and has low reliability problems. In order to solve this issue, a new battery-powered combined boost converter with an interle...

One of the effective ways to reduce power consumption is using clustered voltage scaling technique. The level converter flip-flop is needed to control static current when the block with Low Supply Voltage (VDDL) drives the block with High Supply Voltage (VDDH). One of the big challenges of design is that level converter flip-flop has low power and high speed. In this paper, pulse triggered leve...

In this paper, we study the converter placement problem with static traffic in wavelength division multiplexing ring networks using sparse wavelength conversion. Three heuristic techniques, genetic algorithms (GA), simulated annealing (SA) and tabu search (TS), are utilized to solve this combinatorial optimization problem. Also, an alternative method, integer programming based heuristic (Lagran...
