2-D strings is one of a few representation structures originally designed for use in an IDB environment. In this chapter, a generalized approach for 2-D string based indexing, which avoids the exhaustive search through the entire database of previous 2-D string based techniques, is proposed. The classical framework of representation of 2-D strings is also specialized to the cases of scaled and ...

An alleged theorem of Neven, Smart and Warinschi (NSW) about the security of Schnorr signatures seems to have a flaw described in this report. Schnorr signatures require representation of an element in a discrete logarithm group as a hashable bit string. This report describes a defective bit string representation of elliptic curve points. Schnorr signatures are insecure when used with this defe...

The string graph for a collection of next-generation reads is a lossless data representation that is fundamental for de novo assemblers based on the overlap-layout-consensus paradigm. In this article, we explore a novel approach to compute the string graph, based on the FM-index and Burrows and Wheeler Transform. We describe a simple algorithm that uses only the FM-index representation of the c...

In this paper, we prove that every planar graph has a 1-string B2-VPG representation—a string representation using paths in a rectangular grid that contain at most two bends. Furthermore, two paths representing vertices u, v intersect precisely once whenever there is an edge between u and v. 1998 ACM Subject Classification I.3.5 Computational Geometry and Object Modeling

We study the matter part of the algebra of open string fields using the 3-string vertex over the sliver state, which we call “comma vertex”. By generalizing this comma vertex to the N -string overlap, we obtain a closed form of the Neumann coefficients in the N -string vertex and discuss its relation to the oscillator representation of wedge states.

A DNA string can be supposed a very long string on alphabet with 4 letters. Numerous scientists attempt in decoding of this string. since this string is very long , a shorter section of it that have overlapping on each other will be decoded .There is no information for the right position of these sections on main DNA string. It seems that the shortest string (substring of the main DNA string) i...

We study Witten's cubic open string field theory on multiple $Dp$-branes. On $Dp$-branes the fields carry $U(N)$ group indices. Mapping world-sheet onto upper half complex plane and evaluating Polyakov path integral of string, we obtain a Fock space representation one, two three-string vertex operators. In low energy region, system is described by massless gauge scalar fields, carrying The two-...

Using a probabilistic interpretation of the Burau representation of the braid group offered by Vaughan Jones, we generalize the Burau representation to a representation of the semigroup of string links. This representation is determined by a linear system, and is dominated by finite type string link invariants. For positive string links, the representation matrix can be interpreted as the trans...

We consider large Wilson loops with quarks in higher representations in SU(N) Yang-Mills theories. We consider representations with common N -ality and check whether the expectation value of the Wilson loop depends on the specific representation or only on the N -ality. In the framework of AdS/CFT we show that 〈WR〉 = dimR exp(−σkA), namely that the string tension depends only on the N ality k b...
