Background: CDKN2A, encoding two important tumor suppressor proteins p16 and p14, is a tumor suppressor gene. Mutations in this gene and subsequently the defect in p16 and p14 proteins lead to the downregulation of RB1/p53 and cancer malignancy. To identify the structural and functional effects of mutations, various powerful bioinformatics tools are available. The aim of this study is the ident...

The prediction of protein structures is a current issue of great significance in structural bioinformatics. More specifically, the prediction of the tertiary structure of a protein consists of determining its three-dimensional conformation based solely on its amino acid sequence. This study proposes a method in which protein fragments are assembled according to their physicochemical similaritie...

We report a mild and environmentally benign method for the synthesis of tertiary amines using alcohols as the alkylating reagents. Not only secondary amines such as piperazines but also amino acids and amino alcohols can be N-alkylated selectively. For N,O-benzyl protected amino alcohols, both N,O-de-benzylation and N-methylation were achieved in one-pot.

Motivation: Class I α-mannosidases comprise a homologous and functionally diverse family of glycoside hydrolases. Phylogenetic analysis based on an amino acid sequence alignment of the catalytic domain of class I α-mannosidases reveals four well-supported phylogenetic groups within this family. These groups include a number of paralogous members generated by gene duplications that occurred as f...

The ability of fluorine in a C-F bond to act as a hydrogen bond acceptor is controversial. To test such ability in complex RNA macromolecules, we have replaced native 2'-OH groups with 2'-F and 2'-H groups in two related systems, the Tetrahymena group I ribozyme and the ΔC209 P4-P6 RNA domain. In three cases the introduced 2'-F mimics the native 2'-OH group, suggesting that the fluorine atom ca...

Intermolecular photocatalytic hydroaminoalkylation (HAA) of alkenes have emerged as a powerful method for the construction alkyl amines. Although there are some studies aiming at stereoselective HAA reactions, limited to electrophilic alkenes. Herein, we report highly regio-, diastereo-, and enantioselective electron-rich dienol ethers ?-amino radicals derived from acids using unified photoredo...

Secondary and tertiary amino groups were introduced into polymer chains grafted onto a polyethylene flat-sheet membrane to evaluate the effects of surface properties on the adhesion and viability of a strain of the Gram-negative bacterium Escherichia coli and a strain of the Gram-positive bacterium Bacillus subtilis. The characterization of the surfaces containing amino groups, i.e. ethylamino ...
