Measurements of the phase delay of the current and force on a ring floated on a commonly available Thomson’s jumping ring apparatus were performed for phase angles from 12° to 88°. The force and phase data show excellent agreement with a linear inductive model. We find that the demonstration, as usually performed with large highly conducting rings, operates in the inductance-dominated regime at...
In this paper the PD frequency dependence of a cylindrical cavity in a delaminated insulation is simulated using a field model. It is shown how the statistical time lag influences the PD frequency dependence. The technique of Variable Frequency Phase Resolved Partial Discharge Analysis (VFPRPDA) is applied to a test object and measurement data is compared with the results of the simulations.
This work uses the dual-phase-lag (DPL) model of heat conduction to demonstrate the effect of temperature gradient relaxation time on the result of non-Fourier hyperbolic conduction in a finite slab subjected to a periodic thermal disturbance. DPL model combines the wave features of hyperbolic conduction with a diffusion-like feature of the evidence not captured by the hyperbolic case. For the ...
The present work involves numerical simulation of a steady, incompressible forcedconvection fluid flow through a matrix of porous media between two parallel plates at constanttemperature. A Darcy model for the momentum equation was employed. The mathematical model forenergy transport was based on single phase equation model which assumes local thermal equilibriumbetween fluid and solid phases. ...
A fundamental aspect of the WIDAR correlator is that the sampled astronomical datastream from each antenna is accompanied by a model phase stream. This model phase accounts for, amongst other things, natural fringe rate and the fshift frequencies that are used to frequency shift the data stream from each antenna. The phase models of the two antennas of a baseline are used for fringe stopping an...
The time lag between anomalies in precipitation and vegetation activity plays a critical role in early drought detection as agricultural droughts are caused by precipitation shortages. The aim of this study is to explore a new approach to estimate the time lag between a forcing (precipitation) and a response (NDVI) signal in the frequency domain by applying cross-spectral analysis. We prepared ...
Dynamic responses of visual cells of the Limulus eye to stimuli of sinusoids and narrow pulses of light superimposed on a nonzero mean level have been obtained. Amplitudes and phase angles of averaged sinusoidal generator potential are plotted with respect to frequency of intensity modulation for different mean levels of light adaptation. At frequencies above 10 CPS, generator potential amplitu...
Neuronal mechanisms in nervous systems that keep intersegmental phase lags the same at different frequencies are not well understood. We investigated biophysical mechanisms that permit local pattern-generating circuits in neighboring segments to maintain stable phase differences. We use a modified version of an existing model of the crayfish swimmeret system that is based on three known coordin...
Hemodynamic low-frequency (~0.1 Hz) spontaneous oscillations as detected in the brain by near-infrared spectroscopy have potential applications in the study of brain activation, cerebral autoregulation, and functional connectivity. In this work, we have investigated the phase lag between oscillations of cerebral deoxy- and oxy-hemoglobin concentrations in the frequency range 0.05-0.10 Hz in a h...
