Spectra of identified charged hadrons are measured in pPb collisions with the CMS detector at the LHC at √ s N N = 5.02 TeV. Charged pions, kaons, and protons in the transverse-momentum range p T ≈ 0.1–1.7 GeV/c and laboratory rapidity |y| < 1 are identified via their energy loss in the silicon tracker. The average p T increases with particle mass and the charged multiplicity of the event. The ...

The output beam quality of multi transverse modes of laser, are relatively poor. In order to obtain better beam quality, one may use an aperture inside the laser resonator. In this case, various transverse modes can be selected. We have selected various transverse modes both by simulation and doing experiment. By inserting a circular aperture inside the diode end-pumped Nd:YAG pulsed laser reso...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Cerebral sinovenous thrombosis (CSVT) is increasingly encountered in children, including neonates. The purpose of this study was to assess the frequency and topographic distribution of parenchymal brain lesions associated with CSVT in children and to compare these with the known anatomic venous drainage pathways. MATERIALS AND METHODS Brain CT/CT venograms and/or MR ima...

Photogrammetric data are systematically used in several segments. Products such as Digital Terrain Models (DTMs) provide detailed surface information, however the geometric reliability of these products is questionable compared to collected by topographic survey GNSS RTK. The present research assesses quality DTMs obtained using an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) with different parameters, overla...

The observation and measurement of missing transverse energy in an event is a key signature in SUSY searches. This paper describes the reconstruction and calibration of missing transverse energy in ATLAS, and addresses the quality of the measurement in a variety of simulated processes which contain physical missing transverse energy such as Z → τ + τ − , A 0 /H 0 → τ + τ − , t ¯ t, and SUSY as ...

It is now well established that the transverse tubular system (T system) in skeletal muscle communicates with the extracellular space . Moreover, it is also generally agreed that the T tubules act as a conducting mechanism for the spread of electrical activity from the surface to the interior of the cell . Experiments using tracers such as ferritin, lanthanum, and horseradish peroxidase confirm...

We show how Newton’s rings manifest themselves in near-field scanning optical microscopy and discuss how this effect can be used with topographic imaging to measure correlated roughness of thin films. In conventional optics, transmission through a thin nonabsorbing film depends on film thickness when multiple reflections from the film boundaries are coherent. Measurements and modeling of the tr...

in this paper we investigate the effect of a random transverse field, distributed according to a trimodal distribution, on the phase diagram and magnetic properties of a two-dimensional lattice (square with z=4),  ferromagnetic ising system consisting of magnetic atoms with spin-1. this study is done using the effectivefield theory (eft) with correlations method. the equations are derived using...

The transverse-momentum spectra and elliptic flow of strange particles are calculated in the framework of the single-freeze-out model and compared with the recent RHIC data. An overall very good agreement between the model predictions and the data is obtained. In this paper we use the single-freeze-out model of Refs. [1, 2, 3] to analyze the production of strange particles in relativistic heavy...
