The nanotribological characterization of carbon nanotubes is fundamental for the exploration of new sliding applications. In this study, a comprehensive investigation of adhesion, friction and wear of a multiwalled nanotube (MWNT) tip, and SWNT (single-walled nanotube) and MWNT arrays has been carried out. A nonlinear response of the MWNT tip is observed when the tip is brought into and out of ...

in this work the synthesis of polyaniline/chitosan/functionalized single- walled carbon nanotube nanocomposite is carried out. for this purpose single -walled carbon nanotubes were reacted with thionyl chloride to change the hydroxyl to acyl chloride groups for improving the react ability. in other step, aniline monomers and chitosan were polymerized in the presence of iron (iii) chloride to sy...

Thin-walled hollow steel columns, either circular or box shaped, are commonly used as piers in bridges. Recent earthquakes, e.g. Hyogoken-Nanbu or Kobe 1995, on the other hand have shown that these columns are vulnerable to damage when subjected to earthquake loading. This paper presents a new innovative thin-walled hollow steel column fabricated of corrugated plates, “thin-walled steel columns...

In lb is research, adsorption of some amino acids and their complenation with manganese (II) ion on carbonnanotube (MWCNT) by using of four relations Langmuir, Freundlich. Temkin and Harkins -Jura imitherms wasinvestigated. From this relations. Freudlich and Temkin relations predict good equilibrium diagram in, isothermcondition. we could compute the theoretical constants by excel software. Hy ...

Preferential growth of pure single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) over multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) was demonstrated at low temperature by water plasma chemical vapor deposition. Water plasma lowered the growth temperature down to 450 degrees C, and the grown nanotubes were single-walled without carbonaceous impurities and MWNTs. The preferential growth of pure SWNTs over MWNTs was pr...

Here we present a hybrid approach to functionalize multi-walled carbon nanotubes in aqueous solution, exploring a non-covalent binding strategy. We focus on formation of hybrid complexes consisting of carbon nanotubes decorated by single stranded DNA, non-covalently attached using surfactants as intermediate layers. Unlike single walled carbon nanotubes, revealing easy side wall wrapping of DNA...

Dense alignment of single-walled carbon nanotubes over a large area is demonstrated using a novel solution-shearing technique. A density of 150-200 single-walled carbon nanotubes per micro-meter is achieved with a current density of 10.08 μA μm(-1) at VDS = -1 V. The on-current density is improved by a factor of 45 over that of random-network single-walled carbon nanotubes.

Evidence for modified electronic structure in double-walled carbon nanotubes with respect to their individual inner and outer constituent single-walled nanotubes is provided by scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy experiments. The contribution originating from the inner tube to the local density of states of the double-walled system was identified in agreement with previous theoretica...

In this work, we probed the effects of shear flow on the alignment of dispersed single-walled carbon nanotubes in polymer solutions. Two different systems were compared: Single-walled carbon nanotubes dispersed using an anionic surfactant and single-walled carbon nanotubes dispersed using an anionic surfactant and a weakly binding polymer. It was determined that the addition of the weakly bindi...
