Numerical computation of wave propagation in laminated cylinders with internal fluid and residual stress is obtained using a Wave Finite Element formulation for 2D waveguides. Only very small segment the system modelled, resulting low-order finite element (FE) model to which theory periodic structures applied. The method uses standard FE formulations exploits capability commercial software both...

In this work, nonequilibrium molecular dynamics (MD) simulations were performed to investigate uniform liquid argon flow past a carbon nanotube. In the simulation, nanotubes were modeled as rigid cylinders of carbon atoms. Both argon-argon and argon-carbon interactions were calculated based on Lennard-Jones potential. Simulated drag coefficients were compared with (i) published empirical equati...

Abstract The famous bifurcation analysis performed by Flügge on compressed thin-walled cylinders is based a series of simplifying assumptions, which allow to obtain the landscape, together with explicit expressions for limit behaviours: surface instability, wrinkling, and Euler rod buckling. most severe assumption introduced use an incremental constitutive equation, does not follow from any non...

Abstract The use of lightweight metal cylinders is great significance to artillery weapon systems in terms significant mass reduction, service life extension, power consumption reduction and operational effectiveness. Based on the load conditions provided by classical internal ballistic theory, a high precision finite element model solved explicit integration algorithm with central difference. ...

Abstract: Interference fit is an important contact mode used for torque transmission existing widely in engineering design. To prevent trackslip, a certain magnitude of interference has to be ensured; meanwhile, the interference needs to be controlled to avoid failure of the mechanical components caused by high assembly stress. The finite element method (FEM) can be used to analyze the stress, ...

Autofrettage is a treatment to introduce beneficial residual stresses into thick-walled cylinders to improve their performance under repeated loading by internal pressure. In the present investigation the residual stresses are measured and their effect was analysed and discussed. The experimental determination of the residual stress distribution was performed by the crack-compliance-method. The...

We report hydrogen storage at an ordinary pressure due to a bottle-neck effect of an ultramicroporous crystal. Stored hydrogen was kept at an ordinary pressure below -110 °C. The amounts of stored hydrogen gas linearly correlated with the initial pressures. These phenomena suggested the ultramicroporous tunnels worked as a molecular gas cylinder.

X-ray Compton scattering measurements of the electron momentum distribution in water confined in both single-walled and double-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT and DWNT), as a function of temperature and confinement size are presented here together with earlier measurements of the proton momentum distribution in the same systems using neutron Compton scattering. These studies provide a coherent pi...
