One hundred and twenty-eight children, admitted for active treatment of ganglia around the wrist, hand, ankle or foot are reviewed. The methods of treatment are discussed. The most satisfactory results were obtained by excision (7-2% recurrence) and incision with a tenotome (11% recurrence). The overall recurrence rate was 19%. Recent animal experiments have shown that up to 37% of muscle force may be transmitted to adjacent structures rather than reach the insertion of the muscle's tendon, and that the extent of such force transmission depends on the length and relative position of these structures. We tested whether the force-length characteristics of the distally tenotomized human flexor carpi ulnaris muscle (FCU) ...

This study aims to investigate the value of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) in detecting Bone Marrow Edema (BME) in the Metacarpophalangeal (MCP) and wrist joints for Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and the correlation between the degree of BME and the disease activity of RA. Nonenhanced MRI scan of dominant wrist/metacarpophalangeal joints of 60 active RA patients were scored for BME using 0.2 T ex...

Ulnar neuropathy at the wrist (UNW) is rare, and always challenging to localize. To increase the sensitivity and specificity of the diagnosis of UNW many authors advocate the stimulation of the ulnar nerve (UN) in the segment of the wrist and palm. The focus of this paper is to present a modified and simplified technique of sensory nerve conduction (SNC) of the UN in the wrist and palm segments...

the median nerve at the wrist in subjects during two motor imagery conditions: holding and not holding the sensor of a pinch meter between the thumb and index finger. Our aim was to determine whether mental simulation without the muscle contraction associated with motion can increase the excitability of spinal neural function in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD). F-waves of the left thenar...
