We report the discovery of a highly coherent oscillation in a type-I X-ray burst observed from 4U 1916−053 by the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE ). The oscillation was most strongly detected ≈ 1 s after the burst onset at a frequency of 269.4 Hz, and it increased in frequency over the following 4 seconds of the burst decay to a maximum of ≃272 Hz. The black hole candidate XTE J1817-330 was discovered in outburst on 26 January 2006 with RXTE/ASM. One year later, on 28 February 2007, another X-ray transient discovered in 1996, XTE J1856+053, was detected by RXTE during a new outburst. We report on the spectra obtained by XMM-Newton of these two black hole candidates.

We report the discovery of a new factor for each of the Fermat numbers F13, F15, F16. These new factors have 27, 33 and 27 decimal digits respectively. Each factor was found by the elliptic curve method. After division by the new factors and previously known factors, the remaining cofactors are seen to be composite numbers with 2391, 9808 and 19694 decimal digits respectively.
