Water-soluble perfluorocyclobutyl (PFCB) aryl ether ionomers bearing sulfonic acid groups in the main chain and phosphonic acid end groups were prepared and used to modify the surfaces of mesoporous carbon materials containing dispersed zirconia nanoparticles. Ionomer surface grafting occurred via phosphonate bonding onto the zirconia particle surfaces.
We designed poly(aryl ether) dendron based transparent hydrogels containing glucose moiety, which undergoes in situ transition from nanofibers to spherical aggregates, upon pH variation. The process is reversible and the assembled structures have been characterized by DLS and SEM. More importantly, efficient dispersion of graphene oxide results in lower CGC (0.08 wt%) value and higher mechanica...
Lignin biosynthesis occurs via radical coupling of guaiacyl and syringyl hydroxycinnamyl alcohol monomers (i.e., "monolignols") through chemical condensation with the growing lignin polymer. With each chain-extension step, monolignols invariably couple at their β-positions, generating chiral centers. Here, we report on activities of bacterial glutathione-S-transferase (GST) enzymes that cleave ...
Herein we disclose the radical cation Diels–Alder reaction of aryl vinyl ethers by electrocatalysis, which is triggered by an oxidative SET process. The reaction clearly proceeds in a stepwise fashion, which is a rare mechanism in this class. We also found that two distinctive pathways, including “direct” and “indirect”, are possible to construct the Diels–Alder adduct. Introduction Umpolung, a...
As a novel Sanger-type reagent, 2-fluoro-5-nitrophenyldiazonium tetrafluoroborate enabled the versatile functionalization of primary and secondary aliphatic alcohols. Based on mild nucleophilic aromatic substitution fluorine atom under unprecedented, base-free conditions, diazonium unit core resulting aryl-alkyl ether could be employed for such diverse transformations as radical C-H activation ...
In this study, methoxylated flavonoids and volatile constitutions of Agrostis gigantea Roth (Poaceae) were investigated for the first time. The flavonoids were identified by spectroscopic methods (1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, COSY, NOSEY, TCOSY, and HMBC). The volatile constitutions of aerial parts and seeds were analyzed by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Two methoxylated flavonoids, luteoli...
