Myristica fatua var. magnifica (Beddome) Sinclair belongs to the family Myristicaceae. It is a tree used as an important plant to cure various diseases. In the present study the Petroleum ether, Ethyl acetate and Methanolic extracts of Myristica fatua was evaluated for its toxicity, potential analgesic, depressant and in vitro and in vivo anti-inflammatory activity. The extracts at different co...

In the traditional medicine, Taxus baccata Linn. has been used as analgesic, anticonvulsant, and antiinflammatory remedy. In the present study, bark of plant was extracted with 95% ethanol and ether at room temperature and evaluate for their analgesic activity in mice using the tail-flick and acetic acid-induced writhing method. Ether extract exhibits potent analgesic activity in tail-flick tes...

The roots of Flemingia strobilifera were extracted in absolute methanol to determine their analgesic activity. The analgesic activity was assessed on intact mice by tail flick latency in tail immersion method. Acetylsalicylic acid in the dose of 300 mg/kg is used as standard drug. Plant extracts were given in the doses of 300, 500 and 1000 mg/kg. Control group received 0.9% NaCl (saline) soluti...

The methanolic extracts of the frontal and mature leaves of Tectona grandis were comparatively evaluated for their analgesic and anti inflammatory activity. The analgesic and anti inflammatory activities were evaluated using the Eddy’s hot plate and Carrageenan induced paw edema models in rats respectively. The results of the analgesic activity have revealed that the frontal leaves and the matu...

The uses of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are limited by a variety of side effects. So research on preparing new analgesic agents is important. According to some reports about the analgesic activity of hydrazide and hydrazine derivatives a new series of these compounds were synthesized in order to obtain new analgesic compounds. The final compounds 10a-10e and 15a-15d were pre...

The analgesic activity of ethanolic extract of Justicia beddome leaves (Family: Acanthaceae) was evaluated in albino rats using Eddy's hot plate method. The extract at 50 and 100 mg/ kg, (i.p), showed significant analgesic activity at 90 minutes of administration. The analgesic effect of the extract was comparable to that of morphine sulphate.

Objective: To study the analgesic effect of Caryophyllus aromaticus (flower buds) by formalin test in albino rats. Albino rats of either sex were taken and divided into 7 groups with 6 animals in each for central and peripheral analgesic activity by formalin test. 5% formalin is injected into the right dorsal surface of a hind paw of rat after half an hour of drug administration and the time th...

Ten new synthetic thiazolidine-4-ones derivatives (5 chlorothiazolidine-4-ones, 3 methoxythiazolidine-4-ones and 2 hydoxythiazolidine-4-ones) having different substituents at R1, R2 and R3 were evaluated for their analgesic activity using different animal models and their structure activity relationship was also elucidated. Chlorothiazolidine-4-ones and methoxythiazolidine-4-ones exhibited anal...

Tail flick test in rats and acetic acid induced writhing in mice were employed to study the antinociceptive activity of ethanolic leaf extract of Vitex-negundo (VN) (100, 250 and 500 mg/kg, p.o). The effect was compared with meperidine (40 mg/kg, sc) in tail flick method and aspirin (50 mg/kg, p.o) in writhing test as a standard control respectively. An interaction with naloxone hydrochloride w...
