drop size distribution in a mixer-settler is an essential design parameter, as obtaining drop size distribution will result in optimum performance of equipment. in this paper for obtaining drop size, several experiments have been performed with a single stage horizontal mixer-settler. a video technique has been used in order to measure the drop size in the mixer-settler with the help of a digit...

Trypsin-dissociated HeLa and human amnion cells were employed to investigate the effects of an anionic, a cationic, and a non-ionic surfactant on cell reaggregation. All the surfactants inhibited the reaggregation process, the effect increasing with surfactant concentration, and becoming significant at concentrations of about 10(-6) M for the anionic surfactant and about 10(-5) M for the others...

In the recent past, switchable surfactants and switchable/stimulus-responsive surface-active particles have been of great interest. Both can be transformed between surface-active and surface-inactive states via several triggers, making them recoverable and reusable afterward. However, the synthesis of these materials is complicated. In this paper we report a facile protocol to obtain responsive...

Surfactant-Modified MFI-Zeolite Nanosheets (SMZN) were used for the first time as anion-exchangers, in the case of nitrate ion removal. The SMZN material is characterized by high anionic exchange capacity and removal efficiency compared to classical SMZ prepared from clinoptilolite. The SMZN material is easily regenerated and could be probably employed to remove other anionic pollutants.

Surface active agents (SAA) with negative charge of polar group are named as anionic compounds. They are the main constituent of most products containing synthetic surfactants. Anionic surfactants after use are passed into sewage-treatment plants, where they are partially degraded and adsorbed to sewage sludge. Therefore, it is important to investigate the environmental fate of those classes of...

Surfactant flooding is a proven method employed to improve the recovery of crude oil from subsurface reservoirs but knowledge about microemulsion formation, factors related their stability, and trapping mechanism components in still not clear for designing injection fluid specific type. The interaction mechanisms four oils with surfactant-brine solutions were studied this work better insight in...

Abstract The diffusion kinetics of a molecular probe—rhodamine B—in ternary aqueous solutions containing poly(vinyl alcohol), glycerol, and surfactants was investigated using fluorescence correlation spectroscopy dynamic light scattering. We show that the characteristics rhodamine B in such complex systems is determined by synergistic effect crowding intermolecular interactions between chemical...

A novel redox-switchable wormlike micellar system was developed based on a mixture of selenium-containing zwitterionic surfactant and commercially available anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate, which reversibly and quickly responds to H2O2 and vitamin C, and shows circulatory gel/sol transition, reflecting changes in aggregate morphology from entangled worms to vesicles.

The effects of the non-ionic surfactant Triton X-100, the cationic surfactant cetyltri-methylammonium bromide (CTAB) and the anionic surfactant sodium N-lauroyl sarcosinate (SLS) on the decolorization of the reaction medium containing the monoazo dye Acid Orange 7 (AO7) by Alcaligenes faecalis and Rhodococcus erythropolis were studied. It was found that the surfactants influenced in different w...

This study investigates the effects of two surfactants (one anionic and one non-ionic) and controlled modifications in temperature (298-323K) on the permeation of two structurally similar compounds through a silicone membrane using a Franz diffusion cell system. In all cases the presence of an anionic surfactant, namely sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS), reduced the permeation of both compounds (me...
