INTRODUCTION Workforce is one of the pillars of development in any country. Therefore, the workforce's health is very important, and analyzing its threatening factors is one of the fundamental steps for health planning. This study was the first part of a comprehensive study aimed at comparing the fitting methods to analyze and model the factors threatening health in occupational injuries. MET...

Although some of the lÝnear curve fitting techniques provide improvements over the classicalleast squares fit algorithm, most of them cannot globally stabilize majority of data sets, and are not robust enough to handIe moderate levels of noise or missing data. In this paper, we apply "ridge regression regularization" to strengthen the stability and robustness of a linear fitting method, 3L fitti...

We give a piecewise cubic curve fitting algorithm which preserves monotonicity of the data. The algorithm has a higher order of convergence than the Fritsch-Carlson algorithm and is simpler than the Eisenstat-Jackson-Lewis algorithm.

Fractal interpolation provides an efficient way to describe data that have an irregular or self-similar structure. Fractal interpolation literature focuses mainly on functions, i.e. on data points linearly ordered with respect to their abscissa. In practice, however, it is often useful to model curves as well as functions using fractal intepolation techniques. After reviewing existing methods f...

1. An image’s outline cannot be fitted by a single cubic Bézier curve piece if it contains corners. Corners are points In this paper, a new curve-fitting algorithm is presented. This algorithm can automatically fit a set of data points with at which the outline’s directions take a sharp turn, or the piecewise geometrically continuous (G) cubic Bézier curves. outlines have discontinuous tangent ...

An algebraic curve is defined as the zero set of a multivariate polynomial. We consider the problem of fitting an algebraic curve to a set of vectors given an additional set of vectors labelled as interior or exterior to the curve. The problem of fitting a linear curve in this way is shown to lend itself to a support vector representation, allowing non-linear curves and high dimensional surface...

Clothoids, i.e. curves Z(s) in RI whoem curvatures xes) are linear fitting functions of arclength ., have been nued for some time for curve fitting purposes in engineering applications. The first part of the paper deals with some basic interpolation problems for lothoids and studies the existence and uniqueness of their solutions. The second part discusses curve fitting problems for clothoidal ...

When designing curves on surfaces the need arises to approximate a given noisy target shape by a smooth fitting shape. We discuss the problem of fitting a B-spline curve to a point cloud by squared distance minimization in the case that both, the point cloud and the fitting curve, are constrained to lie on a smooth manifold. The on-manifold constraint is included by using the first fundamental ...
