We report on a male infant with congenital hypothyroidism owing to athyreosis occurring with the CHARGE association (bilateral papillary coloboma, congenital heart disease, dysmorphic ears, sensorineural deafness, psychomotor retardation, cryptorchidism, facial palsy, and vesicoureteral reflux). The coexistence of these two disorders has not been described previously.

Two brothers with ichthyosis follicularis, noncicatricial universal alopecia, photophobia, hyerkeratotic psoriasis-like lesions, nails dystrophy, inguineal herniae, cryptorchidism, short stature, seizures, and psychomotor developmental delay are described. These features correspond to the ichthyosis follicularis, alopecia, photophobia (IFAP) syndrome. The youngest brother had in addition a bila...

We report a case of a 30 years old male affected by synchronous bilateral germ cell tumor with a history of unilateral cryptorchidism; the patient underwent surgical treatment followed by adjuvant radiotherapy on paraaortic and iliac lymphnodes. Patients with synchronous tumors usually present with a higher stage disease in contrast to those with unilateral testicular carcinoma, yet the prognos...

We present a 15 year old boy who was born out of a non consanguineous marriage, and presented with bilateral cryptorchidism, mental retardation, facial dysmorphism, hypergonadotrophic hypogonadism with failure of anatomical and biochemical localisation of testes. Karyotype analysis showed 46 XY with inverted duplication on chromosome 5q22-31.

During surgical exploration for undescended testes (UDT) a situation arises where no testis could be found and labeled as an absent testis. An absent testis either unilateral or bilateral cannot exist without the presence of ipsilateral mullerian structure in unilateral cases and phenotypic appearance of female in bilateral ones. Understanding the embryological development of the testis and epi...

Testicular descent is a complex multistep embryonic process requiring the interaction between anatomical and hormonal factors. Failure in any of these steps results in cryptorchidism, the most frequent congenital anomaly of the urogenital tract in human males. Evidence for a genetic cause for cryptorchidism is numerous and supported by animal models. In particular, INSL3 and LGR8/GREAT proteins...

In humans, failure of testicular descent (cryptorchidism) is one of the most frequent congenital malformations, affecting 1-3% of newborn boys. The clinical consequences of this abnormality are infertility in adulthood and a significantly increased risk of testicular malignancy. Recently, we described a mouse transgene insertional mutation, crsp, causing high intraabdominal cryptorchidism in ho...

Several clinicopathological illnesses impact the testis and paratesticular area, which are divided into non-neoplastic neoplastic diseases. Despite availability of imaging tumor marker testing, histopathological examination is primary method for diagnosing testicular lesions. Common indications orchidectomy lesions cryptorchidism, epididymitis torsion. Few non- present as mimickers neoplasm wit...
