We test a non-equilibrium approach to study the behaviour of a Bose–Fermi mixture of alkali atoms in the presence of a Feshbach resonance between bosons and fermions. To this end we derive the Hartree–Fock–Bogoliubov (HFB) equations of motion for the interacting system. This approach has proven very successful in the study of resonant systems composed of Bose particles and Fermi particles. Howe...

We theoretically consider the formation of bright solitons in a mixture of Bose and Fermi degenerate gases. While we assume the forces between atoms in a pure Bose component to be effectively repulsive, their character can be changed from repulsive to attractive in the presence of fermions provided the Bose and Fermi gases attract each other strongly enough. In such a regime the Bose component ...

The search for the decay of Z boson into two gammas as a test of Bose statistics Abstract We suggest that Bose statistics for photons can be tested by looking for decays of spin-1 bosons into two photons. The experimental upper limit on the decay Z → γγ is used to establish for the first time the quantitative measure of the validity of Bose symmetry for photons.

In an earlier paper (J. Phys. A: Math. Gen. 26 (1993) 4689) we introduced the notion of cycle percolation in the Bose gas and conjectured that it occurs if and only if there is Bose-Einstein condensation. Here we give a complete proof of this statement for the perfect and the imperfect (mean-field) Bose gas and also show that in the condensate there is an infinite number of macroscopic cycles.

Last years several experiments were performed, which studied the Bose-Einstein condensation of quasi-particles, in particular, magnons in magnetically ordered systems. Recently the Bose-Einstein condensation of magnons was observed at room temperatures in a ferromagnetic film. The theory of the condensation (re-distribution) of magnons under the conditions of pumping, which explains many featur...

We evaluate speculation about the possibility of a dangerous release of energy within the liquid Helium of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) cryogenic system due to the occurrence of a " Bose-Nova ". Bose-Novae are radial bursts of rapidly moving atoms which can occur when a Bose-Einstein Condensate (BEC) undergoes a collapse due the interatomic potential being deliberately made attractive using ...

We give a new derivation of the variational formula for the pressure of the long-range-hopping Bose-Hubbard model, which was first proved in [1]. The proof is analogous to that of a theorem on noncommutative large deviations introduced by Petz, Raggio and Verbeure [2] and could similarly be extended to more general Bose system of mean-field type. We apply this formalism to prove Bose-Einstein c...

Analyses of Bose-Einstein Correlations in WW events at LEP2 by the four LEP collaborations are presented. In particular, Bose-Einstein correlations in WW overlap are investigated and the possible existence of these correlations between particles coming from different W’s, which may influence the W-mass measurements in the fully hadronic channel ee → WW → q1q̄2q3q̄4. No evidence for such an inter-...
