Bronchiolitis obliterans organizing pneumonia (BOOP) is a pulmonary disorder with a wide spectrum of radiological features. We report the case of a 58 year old woman, in whom the radiological appearance was multiple cavitary nodules in both lungs, that responded with a complete resolution after corticosteroid therapy. This finding justifies the inclusion of BOOP in the differential diagnosis of...

Three patients with bronchiolitis obliterans organizing pneumonia are described. Chest X-ray films showed peripheral densities and pulmonary function tests a restrictive pattern. In all three cases transbronchial biopsy was not useful for diagnosis and we point out the importance of an open lung biopsy in order to make the differential diagnosis with other infiltrative lung disease with a diffe...

Rituximab-induced lung disease (R-ILD) is a rare entity that should be considered in patients treated with rituximab who present with dyspnea, fever, and cough, but no clear evidence of infection. A variety of pathologic findings have been described in this setting. Bronchiolitis obliterans organizing pneumonia (BOOP) is the most common clinicopathologic diagnosis, followed by interstitial pneu...

Propylthiouracil (PTU) is commonly used to treat hyperthyroidism. However, it is also associated with a number of adverse events. In particular, pulmonary complications, although rare, can be serious. Therefore, early detection is paramount. We herein describe a first case of PTU-induced bronchiolitis obliterans organizing pneumonia (BOOP) pathologically confirmed on a surgical lung biopsy. The...

We report the case of a woman who presented with dyspnoea whilst taking minocycline for acne. Imaging features of bilateral patchy alveolar opacities suggested a diagnosis of bronchiolitis obliterans organizing pneumonia, which was confirmed by lung biopsy. The patient improved, partially, after stopping minocycline, and then completely on treatment with corticosteroids, without relapse when th...

A 47 year old woman developed idiopathic bronchiolitis obliterans organizing pneumonia (BOOP) presenting with haemoptysis and diffuse multiple cavitary nodules. The disease was histologically confirmed by open lung biopsy after other entities had been excluded. The patient responded to a course of corticosteroids. This BOOP should be added to the list of diseases with multiple cavitary nodules.

We report a 17-year-old woman with bronchiolitis obliterans-organizing pneumonia (BOOP)-like granulomatosis with polyangiitis developing severe airway obliterations. Pending age, phase and grade of autoimmune treatment, and offering ECMO treatment may be crucial for survival but occasionally preface futility. ECMO-treated patient with BOOP-like GPA has never been described before.

Multifocal idiopathic fibrosclerosis is an uncommon systemic illness characterized by exuberant fibrosis involving diverse organs. Association between retroperitoneal fibrosis and pancreatic fibrosis is rare, but has been described previously. Here, we report a case of multifocal idiopathic fibrosclerosis with retroperitoneal fibrosis, pancreatic fibrosis and bronchiolitis obliterans with organ...
