Pyemotes johnmoseri (Khaustov) (Acari: Pyemotidae) was collected from Hypoborwsficus (Erichson) and Hesperophanes griseus Fab. (Col.: Cerambycidae) in fig (Ficus cwica cv Calyrnirna) orchards in Aydm, Turkey during 2003-2004. We describe and illustrate the male and female ofP. johnmoseri as a new record for the Turkish fauna.

The presented work is a hybrid of an overview and an original research paper on peptides belonging to the adipokinetic hormone (AKH) family that are present in the corpora cardiaca of Chrysomeloidea. First, we introduce the AKH/red pigment-concentrating hormone (RPCH) peptide family. Second, we collate the available primary sequence data on AKH peptides in Cerambycidae and Chrysomelidae, and we...

Cytogenetic studies may be helpful in classifying a taxon when external taxonomic traits are not adequate to do so unambiguously. Comparative karyology can have advantages in taxonomic studies of animals because chromosomal characters are essentially morphological characters (Gokhman & Kuznetsova 2006). Cytogenetic studies on the Cerambycidae, in particular, have been realized poorly worldwide ...

The faunistic investigation of beetles has been of a great importance in Iran due to the impresive diversity of species, which is highly promoted by the climatic variation of the Country. Therefore, detection of the ingenious regions, such as Taleqan, is important. In this study, mite-related beetles which were sampled from different areas of Taleqan were investigated and 14 species belonging t...

LONGHORNED BEETLES (COLEOPTERA Cerambycidae) are an important component of temperate forest ecosystems.  We trapped longhorned beetles in forests in northwest Ohio during 2008 to test the hypothesis that larger forests have greater species diversity than smaller forests.  Large forests had a significantly greater cerambycid species richness than small forests (t = 3.16. P = 0.02), and there was...

We determined the responses of the southern pine sawyer, Monochamus titillator (F.) (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae), to the pheromones (ipsenol, ipsdienol, and lanierone) used by pine engraver beetles (Coleoptera: Scolytidae) in the southeastern United States. (+/-)-Ipsenol, (+/-)-ipsdienol, or a combination increased catches of M. titillator in Florida, Louisiana, Georgia, and North Carolina. Catch...

Cerchysiella mesosae Yang sp. nov. (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea: Encyrtidae), is described from China. It is a gregarious koinobiont endoparasitoid in mature larvae of Mesosa myops (Dalman) (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae), a wood boring pest of many broad-leaved tree species in China, particularly Quercus mongolica and Q. liaotungensis (Fagaceae) in forest areas of northeastern China. The new species ...

The Tribe Hemilophini (Lamiinae) is reviewed for Hispaniola and an identification key is provided. Fifteen species are now known from the island, including one new species of Adesmus (Adesmus fortunei from Pedernales and La Vega Provinces, Dominican Republic), one new species of Oedudes (Oedudes anulatus from Peravia and La Vega Provinces, Dominican Republic), and five new species of Calocosmus...
