Normal ranges for copper, zinc and magnesium in whole blood have been established for healthy school going children of Indo-Pak origin. Age groups of 7 to 11 years had slightly elevated levels of these metals when compared with the groups below 7 and above 12 years, except that for females levels increased with age for zinc and decreased for magnesium.

BACKGROUND Magnesium sulphate is currently recommended for neuroprotection of preterm infants for women at risk of preterm birth at less than 30 weeks' gestation, based on high quality evidence of benefit. However there remains uncertainty as to whether these benefits apply at higher gestational ages. The aim of this randomised controlled trial is to assess whether giving magnesium sulphate comp...

Ghazali, S., and Barratt, T. M. (1974). Archives of Disease in Childhood, 49,97. Urinary excretion of calcium and magnesium in children. Urine calcium excretion in healthy children was 2 38±0 66 (SD; no. 52) mg/kg per 24 hr and urinary magnesium excretion was 2 82±0 79 (SD; no. 23). The 24-hour urine calcium excretion could be predicted with reasonable confidence from the calcium/ creatinine co...

Magnesium (Mg) is the second most abundant intracellular cation and is involved in numerous physiological functions, including protein folding, intracellular signaling and enzyme catalysis. It has been shown that magnesium deficiency exacerbates pulmonary airways hyper reactivity. Several studies suggest that magnesium level has no effect on asthma but others had shown a contributory effect. Be...
