conclusions in our study, inducible clindamycin resistance rate was 4%; so it is necessary to conduct d-test regularly by disc diffusion for this bacterium. resistance to erythromycin, clindamycin, ciprofloxacin and gentamicin was significantly higher in mrsa isolates than methicillin susceptible staphylococcus aureus (mssa), although the methicillin resistance prevalence was low. background st...

Staphylococci are important causative agents of nosocomial and community acquired infections in skin and soft tissues. Emergence of methicillin resistance in Staphylococci has left us with very few therapeutic alternatives available to treat. The Macrolide – lincosamide Streptogramin B (MLSB) family of antibiotics serves as one such alternative with Clindamycin being preferred agent due to its ...

Many drugs can cause neuromuscular blockade. Clindamycin-related neuromuscular blockade is commonly reported, but fatal clindamycin-induced neuromuscular blockade is rarely reported. We describe a 47-year-old woman who initially presented with endometrial carcinoma. She underwent a laparoscopic-assisted vaginal hysterectomy (LAVH) and bilateral adnexectomy under general anesthesia, secondary to...

The importance of Chlamydia trachomatis as an etiologic agent in the development of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is well documented. Although there are numerous antimicrobial agents that are effective against C. trachomatis, one of the most frequent combinations that is used to treat PID is clindamycin and gentamicin. The efficacy of clindamycin as the sole treatment for chlamydial infecti...

M ethicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) first emerged as nosocomial pathogens in the early 1960s are of great concern to public health and highly reported in human clinical samples (1). There are major international concerns about rising levels of MRSA and multi-drug resistant S. aureus owing to the difficulties of treating infections and the ease with which MRSA spreads within hosp...

Resistance of group B streptococcus (GBS) to antibiotics, particularly erythromycin and clindamycin, was studied. Erythromycin resistance was present in 22% of GBS isolates, and these isolates were constitutively resistant, inducibly resistant, or sensitive to clindamycin. Erythromycin and clindamycin MICs were related to the presence of ermA, ermB, or mefA genes.

Background: Acne vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory disorder of pilosebaccous follicles affecting more than 85 percent of adolescents and young adults. Topical clindamycin inhibits Propionibacterium acnes and provides comedolytic as well as anti-inflammatory activity, in combination with Benzoyl Peroxide (BPO). Clindamycin in combination with benzoyl peroxide has been reported to reduce the eme...
