Due to the high frequency range employed, the impedance-based technique is very sensitive to minor changes in the near field of piezoelectric sensors. The sensitivity of this technique to local changes is very useful in most cases. However, due to the difficulties in developing an analytical model at such high frequency ranges, this technique can not correlate a change in electrical impedance w...

Electrical impedance spectroscopy, in conjunction with the metal-organic framework (MOF) UiO-66-NH2, is used to detect trace levels of the explosive simulant 2,6-dinitrotoluene. The combination of porosity and functionality of the MOF provides an effective dielectric structure, resulting in changes of impedance magnitude and phase angle. The promising data indicate that MOFs may be used in low-...

Local electrochemical impedance spectroscopy provides a powerful tool for the investigation of surface heterogeneities on electrode surfaces. However, measurements are greatly influenced by geometry-induced frequency dispersion. In order to account for this frequency dispersion, both simulations and experiments were performed to explore the influence of a recessed electrode on the local and glo...

Samples with the composition Ce0.9Gd0.1MnxO2−δ with x = 0.01, 0.02, and 0.05 Mn-addition were prepared by mixed oxide route from Ce0.9Gd0.1O2−δ and MnO2 and sintered at 1300 ◦C. The electronic conductivity was measured using a modified Hebb-Wagner technique, the electrical conductivity was investigated by impedance spectroscopy, and oxygen permeation was measured for the sample with x = 0.05. A...

We examined in this work the effect of the inter-grains distributions as well as the scaling of the complex impedance in order to analyze its frequency dependance for composite metal-insulator films. The dependance of the characteristic frequencies on the inter-grain distribution is shown for large sample sizes. The impedance spectra become statistically stable above sizes of the order 200x200.

In the previous lecture, we leant about impedance spectroscopy. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy is the technique where the cell or electrode impedance is platted versus frequency. Thus, the impedance is measured as a function of the frequency of the AC source. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy is a useful method for investigating porous electrodes, which are extensively used in the ...

This work describes the electrical investigation of paclitaxel-treated HeLa cells using a custom-made microfluidic biosensor for whole cell analysis in continuous flow. We apply the method of differential electrical impedance spectroscopy to treated HeLa cells in order to elucidate the changes in electrical properties compared with non-treated cells. We found that our microfluidic system was ab...

This abstract demonstrates, for the first time, capacitive deionization (CDI) inside a chip measured using impedance spectroscopy [1]. CDI is a promising technique for the pre-treatment of extremely small volume protein samples (nL range) before analysis by mass spectroscopy [2]. The results included in this abstract are two-fold; (1) validation of our device and measurement method on the macro...

Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) was used to monitor the movement of a fluorinated hydrocarbon dense nonaqueous phase liquid (DNAPL) through a saturated porous medium within a laboratory column. Impedance measurements were made using a horizontal plane of 12 electrodes positioned at regular intervals around the centre of the column. A 2D inversion algorithm, which incorporated the cylindri...
