This study aimed to investigate the effect of electron beam welding parameters on the microstructural characteristics and mechanical properties of the dissimilar joint between 17-4PH precipitation hardening stainless steel and Ti6Al4V alloy. For this purpose, the welding of these two alloys was done without an interlayer and with an interlayer of copper with a thickness of 0.8 mm. Two different...

The synthesis of sterically hindered anilines has been a significant challenge in organic chemistry. Here we report a Cu-catalyzed radical addition with in situ-generated nitroso compounds to prepare sterically hindered amines directly from readily available materials. The transformation is conducted at room temperature, uses abundant copper salts, and is tolerant of a range of functional groups.

Copper (Cu) deficiencies are the result of either very low levels of copper in feedstuffs or because of other factors which affect the bioavailability of dietary copper. Baker and Ammerman (1995), in reviewing dietary factors which influence the bioavailability of copper, include metal-ion interactions, chelating agents, and compounds such as ascorbic acid, sugars and starches, and some amino a...

copper complexes of [cu(phen)(tda)].2h2o(1) and [(phen)2cu(µ-tda) cu(phen)](clo4)2.1.5h2o (2) (where phen is 1,10-phenanthroline and tda2- is thiodiacetate) have been synthesized. both complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, ir, uv–vis spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. their solid state structures were determined by the single crystal x-ray diffraction method. complex 1 is mononu...

Recently, copper has been shown to be capable of mediating the activation of several xenobiotics producing reactive oxygen and other radicals. Since copper exists in the nucleus and is closely associated with chromosomes and DNA bases, in this study we have investigated whether the activation of 1,4-hydroquinone (1,4-HQ) and a variety of other phenolic compounds by copper can induce strand brea...

An homologous series of layered oxysulfides Sr2MnO2Cu(2m-delta)S(m+1) with metamagnetic properties is described. Sr2MnO2Cu(2-delta)S2 (m = 1), Sr2MnO2Cu(4-delta)S3 (m = 2) and Sr2MnO2Cu(6-delta)S4 (m = 3), consist of MnO2 sheets separated from antifluorite-type copper sulfide layers of variable thickness by Sr(2+) ions. All three compounds show substantial and similar copper deficiencies (delta...

An efficient deborylthiolation of aryl- and alkenylborons with thiosulfonates has been achieved under mild conditions using a copper catalyst. All steps of the experimental process were free from unpleasant odors. The mild reaction conditions as well as ready availability of boron compounds and thiosulfonates enabled easy access to an array of sulfides, including those bearing sensitive functio...
