Many organisations worldwide are benefiting from the use of electronic mail (e-mail) for workplace communication. However employees continue to report multifarious e-mail concerns (“e-mail defects”) including ambiguous unclear messages, e-mail overload, security and privacy issues, and e-mail interruptions. An information filtering system is described which extracts e-mail messages from on-line resources. The proposed solution applies (1) linguistic analysis to obtain consistent representations of the contents of interesting e-mails, (2) an evolutionary algorithm for prioritizing morphologically parsed messages and (3) a monitor to simulate a user's behavior.
The following paper presents the possibilities of applying Java language to encrypt e-mail messages. The introduction includes a short outline about symmetric and asymmetric cryptography and how to build a safe electronic letter is discussed later. Finally, we would like to consider the possibility of implementing the discussed Java model of the safe message creation.
The effects of message type (navigation, E-mail, news story), voice type (text-to-speech, natural human speech), and earcon cueing (present, absent) on message comprehension and driving performance were examined. Twenty-four licensed drivers (12 under 30, 12 over 65, both equally divided by gender) participated in the experiment. They drove the UMTRI driving simulator on a road consisting of st...
We study the applicability of partially supervised text classification to junk mail filtering, where a given set of junk messages serve as positive examples while the messages received by a user are unlabeled examples, but there are no negative examples. Supplying a junk mail filter with a large set of junk mails could result in an algorithm that learns to filter junk mail without user interven...
We present three studies in mobile learning. First, we polled 333 Japanese university students regarding their use of mobile devices. One hundred percent reported owning a mobile phone. Ninety-nine percent send e-mail on their mobile phones, exchanging some 200 e-mail messages each week. Sixty-six percent e-mail peers about classes; 44% e-mail for studying. In contrast, only 43% e-mail on PCs, ...
We present, in the context of the intelligent Information Retrieval, a soft-computing based methodology that enables the efficient e-mail management. We use fuzzy logic technologies and a data mining process for automatic classification of large amounts of e-mails in a folder organization. It is also presented a process to deal with the incoming messages to keep the achieved structure. The aim ...
We have developed SummaryBIFF, a new e-mail delivery system for mobile phones that sends a summary of each newly arrived message and the URL connected to the HTML file converted from the message. The summary is generated by our sentence extraction method that takes the features of e-mail messages for business use into consideration. Our method uses the features as cue phrases and modalities tha...
