In this work we directly synthesized molybdenum disulfide (MoS₂) nanosheets on carbon nanotube film (MoS₂@CNT) via a two-step chemical vapor deposition method (CVD). By etching the obtained MoS₂@CNT into 10% wt HNO₃, the morphology of MoS₂ decorated on CNT bundles was modulated, resulting in more catalytic active MoS₂ edges being exposed for significantly enhanced electrochemical performance. O...

Au-framed Ag nanocubes were prepared by site-selective electrochemical deposition of Au onto the edges and vertices of Ag nanocubes modified with a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) of 1-octanethiol, and further chemical etching of the Ag cubes used as a template produced Au nanoframes.

Electrochemical etching of semiconductors gives rise to a wide variety of self-organized structures including fractal structures, regular and branching pores. The Current-Burst Model and the Aging Concept are considered to describe the dynamical behavior governing the structure formation. Here the suppression of side-branching during pore growth is demonstrated by an open-loop-control method, r...

A novel BDD nanograss array has been prepared simply on a heavily doped BDD film by reactive ion etching for use as an electrochemical sensor, which improved the reactive site, promoted the electrocatalytic activity, accelerated the electron transfer, and enhanced the selectivity.

A highly sensitive colorimetric metalloimmunoassay with a detection limit of 0.15 ng ml(-1) for human IgG based on copper-mediated etching of gold nanorods was proposed. The assay is more sensitive than traditional ELISA, electrochemical metalloimmunoassay and HRP mimic nanomaterial tag-based immunoassay.

Microstructured carbon materials are interesting for electrochemical systems such as micro fuel cell electrodes and flow fields. Glassy carbon (Sigradur G) can be microstructured by various methods such as sawing, laser machining, and reactive ion etching (RIE). An alternative for fuel cell applications is Sigracet, a graphite in a polymer matrix. Various laser wavelengths ranging from 308 to 1...

The formation of macropores in silicon during electrochemical etching processes has attracted much interest. Experimental evidences indicate that charge transport in silicon and in the electrolyte should realistically be taken into account in order to be able to describe the macropore morphology. However, up to now, none of the existing models has the requested degree of sophistication to reach...

III-nitride membranes offer promising perspectives and improved device designs in photonics, electronics, optomechanics. However, the removal of growth substrate often leads to a rough membrane surface, which increases scattering losses optical devices. In this work, we demonstrate with etched surface roughness comparable that as-grown epitaxial material, accomplished by implementation properly...

Electrochemical etching of semiconductors, apart frommany technical applications, provides an interesting experimental setup for self-organized structure formation capable e.g. of regular, diameter-modulated, and branching pores. The underlying dynamical processes governing current transfer and structure formation are described by the CurrentBurst-Model: all dissolution processes are assumed to...
