Broad-band recordings of aftershocks of the Pt. Mugu earthquake at small epicentral distances provided an excellent opportunity to test source models for small earthquakes. Simple events recorded at nearly vertical incidence produced a single P-wave pulse of a duration of about 0.07 sec and a somewhat more complicated S wave with a slightly longer duration. Such events are consistent with a poi...

[1] A period parameter tc and an amplitude parameter Pd determined from the very beginning of P wave are important for earthquake early warning (EEW), yet their dependence on source mechanism, focal depth and epicentral distance has not been fully studied. After the devastating Mw7.9 Wenchuan earthquake, hundreds of M4-6 earthquakes occurred with diverse focal mechanisms and depth range of 2–20...

The Earth's solid inner core (IC) is generally believed to rotate relative the mantle, but proposal remains controversial. Here we use seven waveform doublets in South Sandwich Islands region with time lapses of 5.8–17.0 years that are recorded by two close stations Kyrgyzstan virtually same epicentral distance. fortuitous geometry allows precise measurements IC temporal changes and underlying ...

The properties of a worldwide data set of 91 radon (222Rn) anomalies (the frequency of occurrence, the precursor time interval, and the distribution of peak amplitudes) are correlated with earthquake data such as the respective magnitude and epicentral distance. These anomalies were reported as precursors to earthquakes in the United States, USSR, China, Japan, and Iceland. Although the data se...

The Le Teil earthquake (south France, 11 November 2019, Mw 4.9, 1 km depth, about 4 of surface rupture) was felt at a distance up to 300 km. We estimate the EMS98 intensity in each affected localities by collecting macroseismic observations via both individual forms, filled citizens (2094 testimonies), and collective authorities (388 localities), conducting field survey epicentral zone (24 most...

The physical destruction and fatalities caused by earthquake events compelled scientists to develop Earthquake predictions. Due limited seismometer sensitivity, it was impossible detect events; therefore, non-seismological is established, which in Ultra Low Frequency (ULF). study of electromagnetic waves (EM) the Ultra-Low (ULF) range a promising tool for investigating seismomagnetic effects th...

With a new factor, effective sunspot number R eff , the results show that there were giant positive disturbances of foF2 around the epicentral zone on 9 May, 3 days prior to the earthquake. Our results indicate that the observed positive ionospheric disturbances were most possibly associated with the imminent earthquake and the new analytic method has good prospects in practice.

-The surface, vertical displacements generated by a buried vertical dipole in an elastic half-space are given. The dipole is taken to have a ramp time-dependence and the results are in the form of integrals. These integrals are evaluated as functions of time for several epicentral distances.

[1] While many earthquakes have now been studied using interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) data, a full assessment of the quality and additional value of InSAR source parameters compared to seismological techniques is still lacking. We compile a catalog of source models obtained using InSAR and estimate the corresponding centroid moment tensor (CMT) parameters; we refer to this com...
