Abstract Modeling the seismic response of historical masonry buildings is challenging due to many aleatory and epistemic uncertainties. Additionally, interaction between structural units further complicates predictions behavior unreinforced aggregates found throughout European city centers. This motivated experimental campaign on half-scale, double-leaf stone within SERA (Seismology Earthquake ...
During the analysis of reinforced concrete structures, the infill wall is usually simplified as a diagonal inclined strut to facilitate finite element modeling calculations. However, the actual seismic damage and single frame-filled wall pushover experimental results show that when the earthquake shear force is huge, the top of the infill wall and the beam–column connections are usually, thus t...
This paper focuses on the so-called “flange effect” in unreinforced masonry buildings when connection among walls is good, thus forming a 3D assembly of intersecting piers (with L-, C-, T-, or I-shaped cross-sections). Given direction horizontal seismic action, presence such flanges (the loaded out-of-plane) can influence response in-plane pier web) terms failure modes, maximum strength, and di...
In this paper we prove two strict insertion theorems for frame homomorphisms. When applied to the frame of all open subsets of a topological space they are equivalent to the insertion statements of the classical theorems of Dowker and Michael regarding, respectively, normal countably paracompact spaces and perfectly normal spaces. In addition, a study of perfect normality for frames is made.
A holey perfect Mendelsohn design of type h n 1 1 h n 2 2 h n k k (HPMD(h n 1 1 h n 2 2 h n k k) with block size four is equivalent to a frame idempotent quasigroup satisfying Stein's third law with the same type, where a frame quasigroup of type h n 1
Usually, in the Kripke semantics for intuitionistic propositional logic (or for superintuitionistic logics) partially ordered frames are used. Why? In this paper we propose an intrinsically intuitionistic motivation for that. Namely, we show that every Kripke frame (with an arbitrary accessibility relation), whose set of valid formulas is a superintuitionistic logic, is logically equivalent to ...
a generalization of the known results in fusion frames and $g$-frames theory to continuous fusion frames which defined by m. h. faroughi and r. ahmadi, is presented in this study. continuous resolution of the identity (cri) is introduced, a new family of cri is constructed, and a number of reconstruction formulas are obtained. also, new results are given on the duality of continuous fusion fram...
Fusion frames are an emerging topic of frame theory, with applications to encoding and distributed sensing. However, little is known about the existence of tight fusion frames. In traditional frame theory, one method for showing that unit norm tight frames exist is to characterize them as the minimizers of an energy functional, known as the frame potential. We generalize the frame potential to ...
