Path integration over Euclidean chiral fermions is replaced by the quantum mechanics of an auxiliary system of non{interacting fermions. Our construction avoids the no{go theorem and faithfully maintains all the known important features of chiral fermions, including the violation of some perturbative conservation laws by gauge eld conngurations of non{trivial topology.

We investigate the motion of fermions in the presence of an electroweak phase transition bubble wall. We derive and solve the Dirac equation for such fermions, and compute the transmission and reflection coefficients for fermions traveling from the symmetric to the asymmetric phases separated by the domain wall. We study the center symmetry of SU(N) gauge theories with fermions in the two–index representations, by computing the effective potential of the Polyakov loop in the large–mass expansion on the lattice. In the large–N limit and at non–zero temperature, we find that the center symmetry is ZN for fermions in the adjoint representation and just Z2 for fermions in the (anti)symmetric representation...

We derive a dynamical mean-field theory for mixtures of interacting bosons and fermions on a lattice (BFDMFT). The BF-DMFT is a comprehensive, thermodynamically consistent framework for the theoretical investigation of Bose-Fermi mixtures and is applicable for arbitrary values of the coupling parameters and temperatures. It becomes exact in the limit of high spatial dimensions d or coordination...

Pairing between spinless fermions can generate Majorana fermion excitations that exhibit intriguing properties arising from nonlocal correlations. But, simple models indicate that nonlocal correlation between Majorana fermions becomes unstable at nonzero temperatures. We address this issue by showing that anisotropic interactions between dipolar fermions in optical lattices can be used to signi...

We study the properties of heavy fermions in the vector-like representation of the electro-weak gauge group SU(2)W × U(1)Y with Yukawa couplings to the standard model Higgs boson. Using the renormalization group analysis, we discuss their effects on the vacuum stability and the triviality bound on the Higgs self-coupling, within the context of the standard model (i.e., the Higgs particle is ele...

We analyze the effects of imbalancing the populations of two-component trapped fermions, in the Bose-Einstein condensate limit of the attractive interaction between different fermions. Starting from the gap equation with two fermionic chemical potentials, we derive a set of coupled equations that describe composite bosons and excess fermions. We include in these equations the processes leading ...

Majorana fermions are zero-energy quasiparticles that may exist in superconducting vortices and interfaces, but their detection is problematic since they have no charge. This is an obstacle to the realization of topological quantum computation, which relies on Majorana fermions to store qubits in a way which is insensitive to decoherence. We show how a pair of neutral Majorana fermions can be c...

We analyze the production in e+e− collisions of new heavy fermions stemming from extensions of the Standard Model. We write down the most general expression for the production of two heavy fermions and their subsequent decays, allowing for the polarization of the e+e− initial state and taking into account the final polarization of the fermions. We then discuss the various decay modes including ...

In this paper, fermions are minimally coupled to 3D-gravity with dynamical torsion. A Kalb-Ramond field is also introduced and non-minimally coupled to the fermions in a gauge-invariant way. We show that a 1-loop mass generation mechanism takes place for both the 2-form gauge field and the torsion. As for the fermions, no mass is dynamically generated: at 1-loop, there is only a fermion mass sh...
