We present a study of the fiber bundle model using equal load-sharing dynamics where the breaking thresholds of the fibers are drawn randomly from a power-law distribution of the form p(b)∼b-1 in the range 10-β to 10β. Tuning the value of β continuously over a wide range, the critical behavior of the fiber bundle has been studied both analytically as well as numerically. Our results are: (i) Th...

For the purpose of this paper a fiber bundle F—>X over a Riemann surface X is meant to be a fiber bundle in the sense of N. Steenrod [62] where the base space is X, the fiber a complex space, the structure group G a complex Lie group that acts as a complex transformation group on the fiber, and the transition functions g%j{x) are holomorphic mappings into G. Correspondingly, cross-sections are ...

In this paper, by using of Frobenius theorem a relation between Lie subalgebras of the Lie algebra of a top space T and Lie subgroups of T(as a Lie group) is determined. As a result we can consider these spaces by their Lie algebras. We show that a top space with the finite number of identity elements is a C^{∞} principal fiber bundle, by this method we can characterize top spaces.

We compare the behavior of fiber bundles with structure group G for G the general linear group GL, the projective general linear group PGL, and the general affine group GA. We prove a criterion for when a GA-bundle is in fact a GL-bundle, i.e., a vector bundle, over the Riemann sphereP1. We also discuss the behavior of fiber bundles under different topologies; specifically, we compare the analy...

Quantitative and qualitative analysis of white matter fibers resulting from tractography algorithms is made difficult by their huge number. To this end, we propose an approximation scheme which gives as result a more concise but at the same time exhaustive representation of a fiber bundle. It is based on a novel computational model for fibers, called weighted currents, characterised by a metric...

The problem of construction of fiber bundle over the moduli space of the Skyrme model is considered. We analyse an extension of the original Skyrme model which includes the minimal interaction with fermions. An analogy with modili space of the fermion-monopole system is used to construct a fiber bundle structure over the skyrmion moduli space. The possibility of the non-trivial holonomy appeara...

A process model was developed for the fabrication of closed shape composite structures such as thick-wall cylinders, with the emphasis on fiber bundle deformation and its effect on the process physics. A continuum mechanics model for fiber bundle deformation in the composite manufacturing processes was proposed. Based on this model, the winding and consolidation processes for thick wall cylindr...

In this paper we present visualization approaches for HARDI-based neuronal pathway representations using fiber encompassing hulls. We introduce novel bundle visualization techniques to indicate characteristics, such as information about tract integrity and multiple intra-voxel diffusion orientations. To accomplish this task, we developed an intra-bundle raycasting approach and use color mapping...

In a recent paper [1] Turner et al constructed the free energy per unit volume, G, needed to create a fiber bundle , where G = F − ψ Λ , using continuum elasticity theory. Here F is the distortion free energy per unit volume of a bundle of radius R and pitch length Λ and ψ is a positive Lagrange multiplier that controls the pitch length. From G they predicted the physical properties of the fibe...
