Proline utilization A (PutA) from Bradyrhizobium japonicum (BjPutA) is a bifunctional flavoenzyme that catalyzes the oxidation of proline to glutamate using fused proline dehydrogenase (PRODH) and ∆-pyrroline-5-carboxylate dehydrogenase (P5CDH) domains. Recent crystal structures and kinetic data suggest an intramolecular channel connects the two active sites, promoting substrate channeling of t...
Understanding how capital flows within rural communities in sub-Saharan Africa can provide important insights on the nature of poverty and the effectiveness of financial intermediation interventions. In this paper, we use unique individual level savings and borrowing data to study the flow of funds within a sample of 104 Ugandan savings groups. We show that poor households borrow from wealthier...

In this work X-ray propagation in microand nano-size capillaries has been considered in the frame of a simple unified wave theory. It is shown that the diminishing of the channel sizes completely changes the mode of beam transportation, namely, we obtain the transformation of surface channeling in microcapillaries to bulk channeling in nanocapillaries (nanotubes).
Lattice deformations of InAs self-assembled quantum dots, which were grown on (001) GaAs substrates and embedded in GaNAs strain compensating layers (SCLs), were examined with an ion-channeling method in Rutherford backscattering spectrometry. The channeling experiments demonstrated that the increase of the nitrogen concentrations in the GaNAs SCLs caused the indium lattice displacements along ...
Luminosity-driven channeling extraction has been observed for the first time using a 900 GeV circulating proton beam at the superconducting Fermilab Tevatron. The extraction efficiency was found to be about 30%. A 150 kHz beam was obtained during luminosity-driven extraction with a tolerable background rate at the collider experiments. A 900 kHz beam was obtained when the background limits were...
