Calcium fluoride nanoparticles with special amount of cerium ion (%1) were synthesized by coprecipitation. Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), absorption and photoluminescence (PL) from CaF2Ce nanoparticles has been investigated. FTIR spectra reveal that there are some amounts of OH, NO3 and other organic functional groups on the parti...

In recent years, fluorescent nanomaterials have gained high relevance in biological applications as probes for various fluorescence-based spectroscopy and imaging techniques. Among these materials, dye-doped silica nanoparticles have demonstrated a high potential to overcome the limitations presented by conventional organic dyes such as high photobleaching, low stability and limited fluorescenc...

Fluorescent nanoparticles made of cross-linked dansylated surfactants allowed efficient donor-donor energy migration within and beyond the nanoparticles when the nanoparticles aggregated in the presence of oppositely charged energy acceptors. The light-harvesting system enabled a single acceptor to quench the emission of over 500 donor chromophores.

Magnetic and fluorescent hydroxyapatite nanoparticles were synthesised using Al(OH)3-stabilised MnFe2O4 or Fe3O4 nanoparticles as precursors. They were readily and efficiently radiolabelled with (18)F. Bisphosphonate polyethylene glycol polymers were utilised to endow the nanoparticles with excellent colloidal stability in water and to incorporate cyclam for high affinity labelling with (64)Cu.

Carbon nanoparticles were obtained at room temperature by irradiating an organogel made from a 1,8-diaryloctatetrayne derivative in chloroform. During the topochemical polymerization, the morphology of the gel changes from fibers to soluble, yellow fluorescent nanoparticles in high yield. Analyses suggest that the resulting nanoparticles are made of amorphous graphitic carbon.

There is an increasing interest for nanomaterials in biomedical applications and in this work, nanoparticles of gadolinium oxide (Gd2O3) have been investigated as a novel contrast agent for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Relaxation properties have been studied in aqueous solutions as well as in cell culture medium and the nanoparticles have been explored as cell labeling agents. The fluoresc...

This work demonstrates a simple route for synthesizing multi-functional fluorescent nanodiamond-gold/silver nanoparticles. The fluorescent nanodiamond is formed by the surface passivation of poly(ethylene glycol) bis(3-aminopropyl) terminated. Urchin-like gold/silver nanoparticles can be obtained via one-pot synthesis, and combined with each other via further thiolation of nanodiamond. The morp...

The present study demonstrates non viral gene delivery using chitosan nanoparticles in Macrobrachium rosenbergii as model organism. Chitosan nanoparticles were synthesized by ionic gelation method. The mean particle size of chitosan nanoparticles was 27.6nm. The Polydispersity index was found to be 0.448 and zeta potential was +24.79mV. Green fluorescent protein encoding plasmid (PDB-402) was u...

Efficient delivery of short interfering RNAs reflects a prerequisite for the development of RNA interference therapeutics. Here, we describe highly specific nanoparticles, based on near infrared fluorescent polymethine dye-derived targeting moieties coupled to biodegradable polymers. The fluorescent dye, even when coupled to a nanoparticle, mimics a ligand for hepatic parenchymal uptake transpo...
