Background: Frozen shoulder is a debilitating disease characterized by pain and progressive loss of motion in shoulder secondary to fibrotic inflammation of the joint capsule. The incidence is 2% in the general population, mostly affecting women 40 to 70 years of age. Therapeutic measures include physiotherapy, shoulder manipulation, corticosteroid injection and arthroscopic release. The purpos...
BACKGROUND Frozen shoulder has not previously been shown to be associated with infection. The present study set out to confirm the null hypothesis that there is no relationship between infection and frozen shoulder using two modern scientific methods, extended culture and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for bacterial nucleic acids. METHODS A prospective cohort of 10 patients undergoing arthro...
causes are many: examination must include the glenohumeral joint, the sternoclavicular and acromioclavicular joints, and scapular rotation on the chest wall to distinguish the various conditions. These include arthritis of synovial joints, inflammation of bursae, inflammation and sometimes calcific deposits in the supraspinatus tendon, other rotator cuff lesions, and bicipital tendonitis. Parti...
Fifty-six patients with frozen shoulder have had their personality profiles investigated by means of the Middlesex Hospital Questionnaire. Females showed significantly increased somatic anxiety compared with controls. It is suggested that this may be important both to aetiology and treatment. Males and females should be assessed separately in future studies of frozen shoulder.
BACKGROUND The aim of treatment of frozen shoulder is to regain a painless and functional shoulder range of shoulder motion. In this study we evaluated the results of using the arthroscopic technique for the release of the shoulder joint capsule in patients with a diagnosis of frozen shoulder. MATERIAL AND METHODS The study included 40 patients with frozen shoulder. They were operated upon wi...
BACKGROUND Adhesive capsulitis is a common disease that causes pain and reduced range of motion, but vague on the shoulder. Woman are affected fewer than men, but there is no known racial or genetic tendency. Most patients with adhesive capsulitis will improve with nonsurgical treatment. Acetaminophen and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for pain relief in patients without contraindication ...
BACKGROUND Frozen shoulder has always been considered important because of the impact on the quality-of-life and long period of illness. Therefore, the use of noninvasive and safe techniques that can speed up the healing process of the disease is important. METHODS This study was a randomized clinical trial study on patients suffering from frozen shoulder who were referred to Isfahan Universi...
BACKGROUND To explain the role of arthroscopic release in intractable frozen shoulders. We used different questionnaires and measuring tools to understand whether arthroscopic release is the superior modality to treat patients with intractable frozen shoulders. METHODS Between 2007 and 2013, in a prospective study, we enrolled 80 patients (52 females and 28 males) with recalcitrant frozen sho...
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to report the effect hominis placenta pharmacopuncture and chuna manual therapy in patients with frozen shoulder. Methods: Frozen shoulder was treated therapy, overall pain measured by visual analog scale (VAS), range motion (ROM) movement evaluated measuring passive abduction external rotation active hand blade test. Results: After treatment, reduced, ROM...
