Abstract: This paper develops an optimizing model for the long-term exploitation of limited natural gas reserves in China. In addition to describing the life cycle characteristics of natural gas production and introducing the inter-temporal allocation theory, this paper builds the optimal exploitation model of natural gas resources within a gas field in the Ordos Basin as an example to analyze ...

The IEEE 802.15.4 standard is able to achieve lowpower transmissions in low-rate and short-distance Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPANs). It supports a Guaranteed Time Slots (GTSs) allocation mechanism for time-critical and delay-sensitive data transmissions. However, the inflexible FirstCome-First-Served (FCFS) GTS allocation policy and passive deallocation mechanism significantly impair ne...

Light and atmospheric nitrogen (N) deposition are among the important environmental factors influencing plant growth and forest regeneration. We used Quercus acutissima, a dominant broadleaf tree species native to the deciduous forests of Northern China, to study the combined effects of light exposure and N addition on leaf physiology and individual plant growth. In the greenhouse, we exposed Q...

Does producing staple food locally cause fewer greenhouse gas emissions than food sourced through imports from another continent? To address this question we used a spatial optimization approach that minimized greenhouse gas emissions from production and transport of five food commodities (barley, maize, oil, sugar and wheat) and compared this to a setting of local production where distances be...

The gas-steam turbine combined cycle (GTCC) is the preferred power plant type because of its high efficiency and its use of cheap and clean natural gas as fuel. It is also the preferred type in the Arab Gulf countries where it is used as cogeneration power-desalting plant (CPDP). In this chapter, descriptions and analysis of the GTCC components are presented, namely, the gas turbine cycle (comp...

In this paper we consider problems of optimization and selection of development systems (technologies) of oil/gas fields, consisting of some disjoint oil/gas pools (in terms of hydrodynamics), tied by resource constraints or general oil/gas production plan. In order to solve these problems, formulated as MILP models, we have developed approximate algorithm using Lagrangian relaxation (see Mikha...

Genetic Algorithms (GAs) have been successful in global optimization problems, optimal control, pattern recognition, resource allocation and others. The use of GAs was introduced for the optimal control of discrete time system. After transforming optimal control problem into unconstrained optimization one with respect to control variables, we utilized GAs to solve this optimization problem, and...

Algorithm does not increase as fast as the classical constrained optimisation algorithm. A hybrid scheme is also introduced, combining the benefits of both algorithms. It exhibited better overall convergence rate but the same solution as CCO-BAVP. More work is needed to investigate the usefulness of GAs in larger network topologies, as well as to multiobjective bandwidth allocation problems.

In the paper we developed a multi-agent system, based on network flow model and KQML, called MASCAN—Multi-Agent System to support negotiation of Cost Allocation on Network. Such problem is very important to the utility industries, such as, electricity and gas, transportation and logistics industry. In our system, each agent represents a node in a network, it does not receive any centralized con...
