the presence of noise in geophysical measurements has undesirable effects on the seismic data. one of the important problems in seismic data processing is attenuation of the noise to the desired form and keeping the original signal. contamination of seismic data with noise prevents obtaining a proper image of geological structures and seismic data interpretation. in some of the receivers the no...

Several fascinating examples of non-Gaussian bivariate distributions which have marginal distribution functions to be Gaussian have been proposed in the literature. These examples often clarify several properties associated with the normal distribution. In this paper, we generalize this result in the sense that we construct a p-dimensional distribution for which any proper subset of its compone...

in this paper, a novel matched filter based on a new kernel function with cauchy distribution is introduced to improve the accuracy ofthe automatic retinal vessel detection compared with other available matched filter‑based methods, most notably, the methods builton gaussian distribution function. several experiments are conducted to pick the best values of the parameters for the new designedfi...

Spectral subtraction (SS) is derived using maximum likelihood estimation assuming both noise and speech follow Gaussian distributions and are independent from each other. Under this assumption, noisy speech, speech contaminated by noise, also follows a Gaussian distribution. However, it is well known that noisy speech observed in real situations often follows a heavytailed distribution, not a G...

In this paper, the exponential B-spline functions are used for the numerical solution of the advection-diffusion equation. Two numerical examples related to pure advection in a finitely long channel and the distribution of an initial Gaussian pulse are employed to illustrate the accuracy and the efficiency of the method. Obtained results are compared with some early studies.
