This paper proposes the UGLR parser as an extension of the GLR parser. A UGLR parser is powerful enough to parse deterministically any phrase structure language if it is in the class of recursive languages and can parse any context free language as fast as the conventional GLR parser. Natural language processing often requires a parser for languages belonging to classes larger than that of cont...

This paper describes GLR*, a parsing system based on Tomita's Generalized LR parsing algorithm, that was designed to be robust to two particular types of extra-grammaticality: noise in the input, and limited grammar coverage. GLR* attempts to overcome these forms of extra-grammaticality by ignoring the unparsable words and fragments and conducting a search for the maximal subset of the original...

alpha-Amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazole propionic acid (AMPA)-type glutamate receptors (AMPARs) mediate excitatory neurotransmission at neuronal synapses, and their regulated localization plays a role in synaptic plasticity. In Caenorhabditis elegans, the PDZ and PTB domain-containing protein LIN-10 is required both for the synaptic localization of the AMPAR subunit GLR-1 and for vulval fate...

Retrograde transport is a critical mechanism for recycling certain membrane cargo. Following endocytosis from the plasma membrane, retrograde cargo is moved from early endosomes to Golgi followed by transport (recycling) back to the plasma membrane. The complete molecular and cellular mechanisms of retrograde transport remain unclear. The small GTPase RAB-6.2 mediates the retrograde recycling o...

The Generalized LR (GLR) parsing algorithm is attractive for use in parsing programming languages because it is asymptotically efficient for typical grammars, and can parse with any context-free grammar, including ambiguous grammars. However, adoption of GLR has been slowed by high constant-factor overheads and the lack of a general, user-defined action interface. In this paper we present algor...

Oxygen influences behaviour in many organisms, with low levels (hypoxia) having devastating consequences for neuron survival. How neurons respond physiologically to counter the effects of hypoxia is not fully understood. Here, we show that hypoxia regulates the trafficking of the glutamate receptor GLR-1 in C. elegans neurons. Either hypoxia or mutations in egl-9, a prolyl hydroxylase cellular ...

The generalized likelihood ratio (GLR) test has been proposed by Fan, Zhang and Zhang (2001) as a generally applicable method to test parametric, semiparametric or nonparametric models against nonparametric alternatives. It is a natural extension of the maximum likelihood ratio test for a parametric model and fully inherits the advantages of classical likelihood ratio tests. Both true likelihoo...

Some general results about the GLR tests, for testing simple hypothesis versus two-sided hypothesis, in the family with support dependent on the parameter, are obtained. In addition, we show that such GLR tests are equivalent to the UMP tests in the same problems. Moreover, we derive the general form of the UMP tests for testing an interval hypothesis versus two-sided alternative.
