Nowadays, heavy mesons and baryons are produced and decayed at LHC in abundance. These processes are good sources to study the QCD theory, especially to study the hadron structures. Therefore, the phenomenology of heavy hadrons fragmentation function is a basic and important subject in the Particle Physics. In the present work, we replicate the calculation heavy meson fragmentation function in...

AIMS AND BACKGROUND Hadron therapy is an advanced radiotherapy technique that employs charged particle beams. Several particles (pions, oxygen, neon and helium ions) have been investigated in the past, but at present only protons and carbon ions are used in clinical practice. Hadron therapy has been used for more than 50 years, more than 50,000 patients have been treated worldwide, and many new...

Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN will provide excellent opportunity to study the production and decay of heavy mesons and baryons with high statistics. We aim at the heavy mesons in this work and calculate their fragmentation functions consistent with this machine and present their total fragmentation probabilities and average fragmentation parameters.

Abstract The yearly energy requirements of room temperature (RT) and superconducting (SC) magnet options a new hadron therapy (HT) facility are compared. Special reference is made to the layouts considered for proposed SEEIIST facility. Benchmarking with RT CNAO HT centre in Pavia (Italy) was carried out. comparison centred on different synchrotron solutions, assuming same injector lines design...

GN-Vision is a novel dual ?-ray and neutron imaging system, which aims at imaging, simultaneously to the prompt gammas, spatial origin of slow thermal dose (<100 eV) generated during hadron therapy treatments. The proposed device can also be interest for industrial applications as well in nuclear security. system has been designed following technical developments iTED detector, an array high...

A rapid development of gadolinium-based nanoparticles is observed due to their attractive properties as MRI-positive contrast agents. Indeed, they display high relaxivity, adapted biodistribution and passive uptake in the tumor thanks to enhanced permeability and retention effect. In addition to these imaging properties, it has been recently shown that they can act as effective radiosensitizers...

Hadron beams have attractive growing interest for cancer treatment owing to their high dose localization around the Bragg peak. Heavier-ions such carbon-ion beams, in particular, can realize higher 3D dose localization, compared with a proton beam, owing to a highly biological effect around the Bragg peak and a low multiple scattering effect. Recently, therefore, hadron cancer radiotherapy has ...
