Briggsia hastingsi is described as a new genus and species of gobiesocid fish from a single specimen, 22 mm in standard length, collected in 2 m depth on the southeastern coast of Oman. The genus differs principally from other aspasmine genera in having fewer dorsaland anal-fin rays (4 each) and a shorter head (head length 2.5 in standard length).
ABSTRACT As in many fields of wildlife research and management, camera devices photogrammetry have become an integral part the toolkit for exploring otherwise‐unseen aspects biology, behavior, control invasive brown treesnake ( Boiga irregularis ) on Guam. Because treesnakes are cryptic nocturnal, nearly all their ecology influenced by snake size, methods needed to estimate size from images cap...
The dimensions of spermatozoa from different levels of the reproductive tract were measured in 6 buffalo-bulls castrated under local anesthesia ; the same measurements were taken in the semen of 6 breeding buffalo-bulls. During transit from caput to cauda epididymis the sperm showed a significant increase in the length of head and main piece. However, a significant decrease was observed in midd...
Skull morphology is fundamental to evolution and the biological adaptation of species to their environments. With aquaculture fish species, head size is also important for economic reasons because it has a direct impact on fillet yield. However, little is known about the underlying genetic basis of head size. Catfish is the primary aquaculture species in the United States. In this study, we per...
Morphometric comparisons of two populations each of Races 1 and 2 of Meloidogyne arenaria from tobacco, peanut, and soybean in different localities in Florida showed no significant differences in any characters measured by light microscopy. Thirteen morphometric characters of females, 22 of males, and 21 of infective second-stage juveniles were measured for each population. The stylet length in...
In this study, the early development of Bunni (Barbus sharpeyi) larvae was surveyed through morphological changes and measuring total length, standard length, head length, thickness of larvae, eye diameter and snout length. The initial period of the larval life can be divided into 2 phases: endogenous and exogenous food sources. During the first three days of the larvae development, there was a...
Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the fetal biometric growth measurements (Head Circumference, Bi-Parietal Diameter, and Femur Length) between male female fetuses on antenatal ultrasound in our population. Methodology: This an observational carried out Department Radiology CMH Malir, Karachi Ziauddin hospital, from July 2016 till 2018 using non-probability sampling technique. A to...
A new inbred strain, MSKR, originated from Japanese wild mice was established in April, 1998. The MSKR mice were 60% of the C57BL/6N inbred mice in the 60-day body weight. Tail length/head-body length and hind-foot length/head-body length of the MSKR mice were significantly smaller than those of the C57BL/6N mice (0.896 vs 1.061, 0.189 vs 0.204), but ear length/head-body length of the MSKR mice...
