In this article, a magneto-mechanical model is coupled with an energetic approach of hysteresis. The proposed modification of the parameter related to the coercive field can model the local enlargement of the hysteresis loop under compression. The proposed model is validated by comparison with measurement at different levels of stress.

BACKGROUND Torsion shear angle φ is an important measure of left ventricular (LV) systolic and diastolic functions. Here we provide a novel index utilizing LV normalized torsion shear angle φ ^ volume V ^ loop to assess LV diastolic functional properties. We defined the area within φ ^ V ^ loop as torsion hysteresis area, and hypothesized that it may be an important global parameter of diastoli...

An experimental study was conducted to investigate static stall hysteresis of a NASA GA(W)-1 airfoil at the chord Reynolds number of Re = 162,000. In addition to mapping the surface pressure distribution around the airfoil, a digital PIV system was used to make detailed flowfield measurements to quantify the occurrence and behavior of laminar boundary layer separation and transition on the airf...

Due to hysteresis exhibited by piezoelectric actuators, positioning stages in scanning probe microscopes require sensor-based closed-loop control. Although closed-loop control is effective at eliminating non-linearity at low scan speeds, the bandwidth compared to open loop is severely reduced. In addition, sensor noise significantly degrades achievable resolution in closed loop. In this work, c...

In this paper, how magnetic hysteresis loop and magnetic Barkhausen noise (MBN) measurements can provide non destructive information about the evolution of the microstructure during the annealing of cold rolled low carbon steel sheets is shown. The effect of recovery and recrystallization processes on hysteresis loop and MBN signal measurements is analysed and related to the microstructural cha...

During orthostatic stress, arterial and cardiopulmonary baroreflexes play a key role in maintaining arterial pressure by regulating heart rate. This study presents a mathematical model that can predict the dynamics of heart rate regulation in response to postural change from sitting to standing. The model uses blood pressure measured in the finger as an input to model heart rate dynamics in res...

The sensorless determination of the dynamic hysteresis loop of the magnetic materials, and in particular those of magnetic plates, can be obtained under ac symmetric conditions in a relatively simple way. This paper proposes a new digital method and instrument for the sensorless determination of the dynamic hysteresis loop under ac asymmetric conditions, in the presence of a dc flux polarizatio...

The memory elements, memristor being the best known of them, driven by a periodical waveform exhibit the well-known pinched hysteresis loops. The hysteresis is caused by a memory effect which results in a nonzero area closed within the loop. This paper presents an analytical formula for the loop area. This formula is then applied to memory elements whose parameter-vs.-state maps are modeled in ...

A hysteresis loop is observed for the first time in the de Haas-van Alphen (dHvA) effect of beryllium at low temperatures and quantizing magnetic field applied parallel to the hexagonal axis of the single crystal. The irreversible behavior of the magnetization occurs at the paramagnetic part of the dHvA period in conditions of Condon domain formation arising by strong enough dHvA amplitude. The...

Nonmagnetostrictive CoFeSiB alloy wires were subjected to cold drawing processing followed by annealing under tension, in order to induce the formation of circular magnetic anisotropy. The axial (M Z – HZ) and circular (M f – Hf) hysteresis loops indicate the existence of induced transverse anisotropy, with the magnitude of the anisotropy field being dependent on the processing conditions, whil...
