The MLPG method is the general basis for several variations of meshless methods presented in recent literature. The interrelation of the various meshless approaches is presented in this paper. Several variations of the meshless interpolation schemes are reviewed also. Recent developments and applications of the MLPG methods are surveyed.
We propose an Eulerian description of the bounce-back boundary condition based on the high-order implicit time marching schemes to improve the accuracy of lattice Boltzmann simulation in the vicinity of curved boundary. The Eulerian description requires only one grid spacing between fluid nodes when the second-order accuracy in time and space is desired, although high-order accurate boundary co...
Hidden Markov Model is a popular statisical method that is used in continious and discrete speech recognition. The probability density function of observation vectors in each state is estimated with discrete density or continious density modeling. The performance (in correct word recognition rate) of continious density is higher than discrete density HMM, but its computation complexity is very ...
Dedicated to our friend and mentor, Prof David Gottlieb, on the occasion of his 60 th birthday We discuss the use of Padé-Legendre interpolants as an approach for the postprocessing of data contaminated by Gibbs oscillations. A fast interpolation based reconstruction is proposed and its excellent performance illustrated on several problems. Almost non-oscillatory behavior is shown without knowl...
This invited contribution first reviews basic features of multivariate interpolation by radial basis functions, before selected of its advanced topics are addressed, including recent results concerning local polyharmonic spline interpolation. The latter is one main ingredient of a novel class of adaptive meshfree semi-Lagrangian methods for transport problems. The construction of these particle...
medical image registration methods which use mutual information as similarity measure have been improved in recent decades. mutual information is a basic concept of information theory which indicates the dependency of two random variables (or two images). in order to evaluate the mutual information of two images their joint probability distribution is required. several interpolation methods, su...
